Over the past year and a half all opposition to Obama has been called racist. Not only opposition to Obama, but opposition to all things left-wing has been called racist by every left-winger under the sun. I find it sad for real racism, but it's funny to me when left wingers say that now... because it's done. The race card is dead. Somewhere over the election of Obama and the MSM whining about racism on a weekly basis, calling someone a racist has become a joke unto itself. Regardless of what this means for actual racism, it is very liberating for conservatives... unlike before when being called a racist required a defense to prove you were not... now-a-days it only requires a hearty laugh, a nod, and a sarcastic yeah, you must be right.

Which brings me to my point. Tonight on O'Reilly Factor we had Monica Crowley filling in for the ever-vacationing Mr Bill. But Monica had Mark Sawyer, Ph.D (black liberal) and Chris Metzler Ph.D (black conservative) to discuss some crap said on MSNBC about white Americans going crazy this election season. Monica Crowley immediately pointed out that was ridiculous because Obama could not be elected without white people, so the notion they have become racists over the past 18 months is absurd.

This led the stupid liberal to claim that a lot of people are racist, and those that are not allowed Fox News and the Republican Party to scare them into fearing a black president over the past 18 months.

That led to me laughing out loud... but I digress...

This also led to Monica Crowley suggesting that the left-wing voices have become completely irrational in their arguments by pointing out racism where it obviously does not exist and the only people that find that honest are the far-left. She suggests inability to play the race card like the left has always done in the past has lead to some seriously flawed arguments... arguments that the left did not have to make in the past when the race card was still disarming. Now it seems to me that playing the race card is not an automatic winner like it was in the past, now it is an automatic loser.

And this led to the liberal Mark Sawyer, Ph.D laughing at Monica and saying that she would have a point if the race card actually existed... he claimed there was simply no such thing and the Democrats have never painted people as racists as a means to avoid the debate.

That seemed to confirm Monica's point that those on the left are simply going crazy without the ability to brand the opposition as racist. I've never heard anyone say the race card did not exist... I've heard people use the race card, and I've heard people accuse people of using the race card... I've never heard anyone claim the race card doesn't exist. I think maybe Monica Crowley was on to something to think that left-wingers simply don't know what to do now that demonizing their opponents with the word racist is suddenly working against them.

I really think that since Obama's election that just about everyone that doesn't agree with 100% of everything Obama does has been called a racist, a bigot, or an idiot at some point, by some media outlet or another... there is no turning back from this and never again will calling people racist be a winning argument. It's about time, but I think we are at that time now.

This is not a thread about what conservatism is, but rather, specifically, what makes YOU conservative? Why do you identify with conservatism? Where do you stand on the issues?

Here's my conservative principles:
Pro-life, no exceptions
Pro-2nd amendment
Free market capitalist
Education - should be legislated at state level, pro-voucher, pro-private school
Social Security - LOL
Medicare/Medicaid - LOL political slush fund
Health Care - I consider it a commodity and should be managed under free-market capitalism.
Environment - don't believe in man-made global warming.
Foreign Policy - take care of USA first, address serious threats that are serious threats and not pussy foot around
Economy - low taxes (like the idea of flat tax), pro-business, gov't and business shouldn't mingle, unions need restrictions, need to use our own natural resources
Gov't - lobbyists should be illegal, getting paid to be on a "committee" should be illegal, committees should not guide legislation, judges are not legislators, should be no limit on campaign donations from individuals, should be no 'czars'

If I left anything out I'll comment later.

Government agents can sneak onto your property in the middle of the night, put a GPS device on the bottom of your car and keep track of everywhere you go. This doesn't violate your Fourth Amendment rights, because you do not have any reasonable expectation of privacy in your own driveway — and no reasonable expectation that the government isn't tracking your movements.

That is the bizarre — and scary — rule that now applies in California and eight other Western states. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which covers this vast jurisdiction, recently decided the government can monitor you in this way virtually anytime it wants — with no need for a search warrant.

The biggest long-term threat to taxpayers and budgets is the pension crisis. Bell City Manager Robert Rizzo was raking in a salary of nearly $800,000, and a total compensation package of more than $1.5 million that included benefits such as 28 weeks worth of vacation and sick time. That puts taxpayers on the hook for over $600,000 a year for Rizzo’s pension—for the rest of his life—when he retires.
The Bell scandal is a microcosm of a new class struggle—in California and across the nation—between taxpayers and government employees. Government employees have become the new privileged class.
The argument of public workers has always been that they do not earn as much in salary as comparable private-sector workers, so governments must make up for this inequity through increased job security and greater pension benefits. If this was true a generation or two ago, it certainly is not today. The most recent Bureau of Labor Statistics report on employee compensation revealed that, as of March 2010, state and local government workers earn, on average, nearly 44 percent more than do private-sector workers, including 34 percent higher salaries and wages and over 66 percent greater benefits.

American citizens, here is your problem with government.........we simply must stop paying government officials these insane salaries all the while expecting things to get better. The salaries of these officials should be more in line with what the average citizen earns. It has become lucrative to seek a position as a government official for many of these people holding public office and it simply must end now.
