You've got to be kidding me!
This would basically end the shooting sports as we know it. Remember this is a no-win situation for us, because bullets made of materials other than lead are often considered armor piercing by law. Copper is your basic material, and copper is expensive, and has much poorer performance properties than lead.

As NSSF has pointed out, there’s no real scientific basis for restricting lead ammunition. Just about all shooting ranges at this point are recycling their lead (it’s too valuable to just leave in the ground). California’s ban has not been shown to reduce lead levels in Condors, and has driven more people away from hunting. Additionally, it’s interfered with lawful self-protection in parts of California that are considered condor habitat.

Your state is bankrupt. You've had to cut many government services while increasing taxes to one of the highest rates in the country. You have budget deficits as far as the eye can see and an unemployment rate increasing, which means even less income in tax revenue. What do you do?

If you are a liberal, you appease the education unions and build the most expensive school in the nation. Over $500 million dollars. Hey, it's a pretty nice school though.

Joe Agron, editor-in-chief of American School & University explains it this way - "Districts want a showpiece for the community, a really impressive environment for learning." How quaint. A showpiece. An impressive environment. Yeah, that's what a bankrupt state needs, a showpiece. Impressive alright.

Is it any wonder why the rest of the nations considers California to be somewhat of a joke? The problem is, this really isn't funny. What justifies this? Who gave this project the authority and funding to continue. Nancy Pelosi wants the people who object to the Ground Zero mosque investigated. She wants to investigate those who are funding the objections. Does she look into the funding of this pet project? ...

With all of our new members joining up, what a great time for me to do you all a favor and allow me to indulge myself in my own little personal crusade. That is to educate and open your eyes to the evil that is google. Some of you might be saying, "Oh great, here he goes again". Well maybe so. But I say the same thing to friends who thought Obama was great too. I was right about Obama too.

I think we can agree that Google has been one of the largest beneficiaries of the openness and freedom that is the Internet. They have become one of the largest, most powerful, and certainly one of the richest companies in history. They've been able to do so with talented workers to be sure, but they've also been able to do it because of the complete lack of restrictions on the Internet. When google started, there was no one there to stand in their way. There was not a service provider telling them, "we don't like your idea, so we don't want to allow our users to have access to your site." There were no providers that had or currently have the ability to say, "if you want to go to that site, it will cost you more". Currently the Internet is an open highway. TheAmericanRight.com has access to the same Internet as does google. Users have the same ability to travel to TAR as they do to google. It's called Net Neutrality and it basically means ...

Some of you may know our friends over at The Mighty Right.com, some of you may not. We share many members and have for years. I have always considered The Mighty Righty (MR) a friend of this site and the admin of that site, Harv, and I have talked often.

Harv has made the difficult decision to, as he puts it, 'turn out the lights' at least for a while at The Mighty Righty.

As a result, some of the members of MR may make their way over here to join us. Please join me in welcoming them and making them feel at home. While I have no illusion or intention to believe this will be a replacement for what they have come to know and love at MR, it is certainly a place they can come when and if they choose.

Harv and I will continue to talk. Harv brings a considerable amount of technical knowledge regarding how to maintain, patch, and update these sort of sites and he has been gracious enough to offer (at my request) to help out in that capacity as much as he can. There are other great members at MR and I expect their contributions here to a great asset to everyone.

I welcome each of them and expect they will be treated like the old and new friends they are.

While we suffer through our current infestation and occupation of the White House, it sure is nice to be reminded what it was like to have an American as President.

You can like George Bush or not, but he is a great man and a true American. He loves this country and what it was founded on and he loves our military. I miss the man. I truly do.

He and Laura took time to greet some troops at DFW airport today. He did it for one reason - he loves them. He didn't do it for publicity or a photo op. He didn't do it for a political agenda. He did it because it is the kind of man he is.

I realize that sometimes I can come across maybe a bit 'in your face'. I freely admit that I often feel like my opinions are fact and there is little room for disagreement. But I am also willing to accept when I am wrong and free to admit when I am not completely sure about a topic and realize my opinion may not be the right one.

With that I mind, I'd love to hear what people think about the recent ruling where the California judge overturned the voters on the gay marriage ban. Should he have done it? This is a bigger question than whether gay people have the right to marry. Should the judge have overturned the vote?

To give you a little help, the judge made his decision base on his interpretation of a part of the constitution saying that all people should have equal treatment under the law and that marriage was a right. So with that it mind, what do you think? I want you to put aside your 'opinion' ...

I was recently in Oklahoma City. While there, I had the chance to visit the memorial on the site of the former Murrah Federal Building, the site of the Oklahoma City bombing by Timothy McVeigh. It is really quite a site. There is now a lawn where the building stood with small memorials in the shape of small chairs representing each person and child killed in the bombing. The street that used to run past the building is now a reflection pool. There is a lone tree that survived the attack, now aptly named "The Survivor Tree". It is a 90 year old Elm that survived the massive blast. 168 people lost their lives that day.

So I was surprised to learn a new memorial was being put up. This one will be placed on the opposite side of the reflection pool. It will actually be two memorials. Two life size statues of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. Nichols was McVeigh's accomplice in the bombing and his former roommate while serving in the Army. The two statues will be erected directly across from the 'chair memorial' and facing the lawn. By placing the McVeigh memorial directly across from the chairs, those who come to morn the loss of life of the children in the day care center that day, can also look across the reflecting pool and hopefully reflect on how troubled McVeigh was ...

I know there is another thread on this, but I'd like to look at the story of at a much more important angle.

We can debate whether Shirley Sherrod is or was a racist. Clearly she was. Perhaps she overcame it. Perhaps she is the model of something we could all try to be - someone who saw the error of her ways and realize she was wrong. Perhaps she faced the fact she had to make fundamental changes in how she looked at people and judge them not on their race, but instead judge them on their needs. If that is truly the case and if that is what Shirley Sherrod did, then I think we can agree it would be hard to argue that this isn't a good thing. I don't know if that is the case. I simply don't have enough evidence to make that decision. I don't know the woman, nor do I know her history. I've obviously never met her, I've never talked with her, and I don't know her side of the story.

Much like the Obama administration, all I have to go on is a few minutes of a video clip. Surely that is not enough information to make a decision that would affect the life of what may be a very good woman. That is of course unless you are a member of the Obama administration. If so, your main goal, in fact maybe the only thing that drives any of your decision making process is, how will this look to the voters. What is the best move to make politically. Then do it and do it quickly.

Just like the case of Sgt. James Crowley, ...
