It seems we had a visitor from a little troll again.

I have measures in place to weed out most of the spammers and juveniles who like to come here and cause trouble. This particular troll posted some inappropriate pictures so for those of you who were unfortunately enough to see them, I apologize. They have been removed and I will work on ways to prevent this from happening in the future.

Thanks to those who called this to my attention.

For those who think this sort of thing is funny... you'd be amazed at the sort of information a forum like this can get from your connection. It makes it easy for the authorities to track you.

Well IHL theres a time consuming way where they register but you have to approve them via email.

I think I was the first one to see the trash this troll smeared the site with. Good lord I almost gouged my eyes out. Thankfully I made sure IHL knew about this issue ASAP.

Already new users have to complete registration via email.

I think in some cases you can keep users from posting on most forums until you approve them. Perhaps you could have a requirement that they introduce themselves in a Newbies thread first.

Then again, adding new kinds of regulation due to one disgusting incident is the kind of thing liberals would do. Any precautions to prevent a similar occurence should be carefully weighed: we don't want this site to become over-regulated.

What kind of trash was this clown posting, and when was it? Was it x-rated crap or just some negative bashing with offensive words?

One of the posts was X rated, yes.

It isn't the problem of registration. It's what happens after they register.

There are ways to control this until users become established.

For example, new users can not post anything with a URL in it and certain other things are flagged and must be approved. This has to do with the ability to upload pictures so I'll just have to limit new users from posting pictures. Not a big deal I'll just have to get around to it.

In the meantime, if it happens again just let me know and I'll clean up the trash again.

It was all pictures. One was just spam, posted in a thread that had nothing to do with the picture's content. Another was provocative and possibly R-rated. The one IHL refers to went beyond X-rated. There was minimal words, this spammer just posted inappropriate pictures.

So you are telling me this bozo was posting x-rated pictures on this website? I hope it wasn't anyone any of us know. That would be disgusting and scary to say the least.

Considering the nature of at least one of the pics, I suspect our most recent departee.

We don't know that, and blaming someone for something when we don't know for sure, isn't fair.

Either way, I'll try to avoid it from happening in the future.

I didn't accuse, Boss. I merely suspected.

Good point.

However, based on my sources, I don't believe it is the case.

Trolls seem to be polluting most of the forums on the Web. I hate to see it here. Thank you for your efforts IHL.

I agree with you, KSig. It's hardest on those of us who actually care about a site such as this - not to mention the wonderful people we've had the gift of knowing. So many people come in here with honest ideas and opinions and when that ends up being sh*t all over by someone who is just here to play games, it makes some of us think twice about posting anything further. That's where the pollution takes it's wretched toll.

Fortunatly, most of us just shake it off and continue on. But, that will not always be the case. Believe me...it won't.

*Sigh*

A word to all potential Trolls. There is a TAR vigilance committee. This is like an old Wild West town. Play nice and you'll be welcome. Come into TARville and cause trouble and there'll be a whole passle of trouble.
