TL, I started a thread about this some time ago. It had to be more than six months ago or more.

It was a thread I started on 4-14-2008. I don't know where I got the information unless it was sent to me in an email, but neither of the links are still operable. How do I post a link to the thread?

A new link to your thread? You can't just add it?

Well, there weren't any responses, so I don't know if it would do any good, but this is rather alarming, and I have to wonder did this have anything to do with the financial meltdown.

Go here to look at what sharia compliant finance is.

One of the principles and practices of sharia-compliant finance that everyone in the West should be very wary of is something called zakat, which refers to the charitable contributions that must be made to approved charities in the name of fulfilling the obligatory tithing of faithful Muslims. In fact, under sharia-compliant finance 1/40, or 2.5%, of assets must be diverted to charities selected by sharia scholars, like Sheikh Qaradawi.

Sheikh Qaradawi is widely regarded as one of the premier sharia authorities in the field of economics. When Qaradawi called for replacing capitalism with an Islamic economic system, it was not a crackpot sermon in some remote mosque in the desert. An analysis of Qaradawi’s curriculum vitae reveals that he is very influential indeed (here is a partial listing of Sheikh Qaradawi’s credentials):
• Chairman of International Association of Muslim Scholars
• Chairman of European Council on Fatwas and Research
• Grand Mufti of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
• President of Union of Good (a Saudi umbrella group of 56 Muslim charities accused of funding HAMAS.)
• Founder and President of IslamOnline.com
• Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Islamic American University
• Trustee, Muslim American Society (MAS)
• Trustee, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA)
In terms of his credentials in the world of finance, Sheikh Qaradawi is the sharia advisory board chairman to several banks, including no fewer than three government-tied banks in the Gulf region: Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank and First Islamic Investment Bank of Bahrain.

Am I to understand that our treasury department is getting in bed with the people who want to kill us? I have been telling you our government cannot be trusted.

I think you've got it right, Mary. How does it feel to be Hamas' new slave?

The day we get off of oil, is the day this whole system comes crashing down around them.

So in essence, by legitimizing the "shariah" way of economics, we essentially provide a means to fund the very enemy we're trying to destroy from our own country.

Wow.. Only in America folks...

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. It is truly unbelievable.

Where is ET and Aurelius on this?

Either one of you still want to tell me how Islam doesn't want to take over the world?

You would not believe how friendly our politicians are with people who want to kill us. You should see how much bribe money they take from them each year in order for our government to ignore what goes on in their countries. It is truly sickening and no one ever does anything about it even though some people have written books about it even.
