I think he needs to put his flowery bathing trunks back on and just stay home playing his pool boy role for Mrs. Heinz. He'd be less of an embarrassment to himself that way.

Here is an interesting little story about the spiraling costs of the Democratic National Convention. It seems they are way over budget, but you Obama supporters can keep throwing your money to this party who couldn't manage a lemonade stand.

For all Senator Barack Obama’s success at raising money and generating excitement among voters, he faces a daunting challenge as he prepares to claim the nomination in August: a Democratic convention effort marred by costly setbacks and embarrassing delays.

With the Denver convention less than two months away, problems range from the serious — upwardly spiraling costs on key contracts still being negotiated — to the mundane, like the reluctance of local caterers to participate because of stringent rules on what delegates will be eating, down to the color of the food. At last count, plans to renovate the inside of the Pepsi Center for the Democrats are $6 million over budget, which may force convention planners to scale back on their original design or increase their fund-raising goals.

Here is another funny story which compounds the problems the democratic party are facing right now.

(CNSNews.com) - As Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) apparently moves toward the political middle, he has offended one of the more influential liberal voices in the new media.

Markos Moulitsas, founder of the highly popular Daily Kos blog, denounced Obama for voting for the domestic surveillance legislation that provides limited immunity to telecommunication companies and for criticizing the left-wing activist group MoveOn.org.

"There is a line between 'moving to the center' and stabbing your allies in the back out of fear of being criticized. And, of late, he's been doing a lot of unnecessary stabbing, betraying his claims of being a new kind of politician," Moulitsas wrote on his site. "Not that I ever bought it, but Obama is now clearly not looking much different than every other Democratic politician who has ever turned his or her back on the base to prove centrist bona fides."

http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200807/POL20080703f.htmlI see this as the founder of daily kos having his ego bruised. He seems to believe that he himself has some say in all of this when the reality is that the daily kos is nothing more than a cog in the machine.

anyone on the left surprised that obama is trying to find a centrist message on which to build a consensus platform never understood obama in the first place. In his 06 book, he laid out just such a plan.

as far as his "new politics", thats what is called clever message marketing.

there are no old politicians and new politicians. there are good politicians and bad politicians. obama is clearly a very talented and exceptional politician, but the game is the same for him as it is for anyone that runs for office. running on a mandate of "change" and "new politics" is as old as civilization. Obama just happens to play the game phenomenally well.

as far as those on the left griping at this point...what's their alternative...nader?
