Then what's the answer for the Republican Party? They can either stick to their guns and turn off the voters who would help them win, or they can bury their foreign policy in order to attact those voters. Which is more important, embracing the ignorance (thereby keeping the Democrats out of office) or holding fast to principle by telling people that they need the Republicans to continue fighting to protect them?
Like I said, 1000 people who live in NYC does not necessarily represent the feelin of the other 299 999 000 people in this country
All you have to go on is the results of the Legislative elections, for all you know the reason the Dems took the House and the Senate, could be that the Republicans wanted to teach their representatives a lesson on who actually holds the power in this country. It could be that the people aren't comfortable with one party weilding total control over the executive and the legislative.
Could be anything, difference between you and I, is that I don't presume to know the will of the country.

Thats an easy answer: principle. When you have principle you have direction with a solid foundation. I'd much rather have the Republican party lose on principle - like Barry Goldwater in '64 - than to sell out with a nominee like McCain. The principle remains that we will win the War on Terror, the War in Iraq, and be a beacon of freedom for the millions of oppressed people around the world.

So my ideas aren't valid because I don't really know what's in the hearts and minds of the people? Congratulations, you've just rendered probably 90% of the posts on this board invalid because the authors of those posts don't know what's in the hearts and minds of the entire population either.
It's a message board. People offer their opinions and analysis based on what they see and hear. It's an exchange of ideas. If you want to stop the conversation just because complete and total knowledge is not possible, then why enter a thread where people are exchanging opinions? That doesn't make very good sense.

I admire the fact that you are willing to stand by your principles and accept the loss if that's the result. Many Republicans aren't willing to do that and would gladly accept a lesser candidate if it meant beating a Democrat. Unfortunately, that compromise of principles is what has led to the ever increasing similarities of the parties.

Oh, your ideas are valid, to you and others like you. How ever, you're the one invalidating the ideas of everyone else at your whim. I was just flipping the script on your for a little. Fun isn't it.

I entered the thread because of ignorant statments made about the WoT as well as the prosecution of said WoT. I merely pointed out the facts with respect to these statements.
Opine away, it when someone suddenly presumes that their opinion constitutes fact with out validation that gets a rise out of me.

Golly. Tasting my own medicine isn't fun at all. I might pout now.

Hmmm... Let's see here. You have but a scant few of my words. I, however, have those words plus the thoughts behind them. Yet we're supposed to believe that you somehow know my intent better than I do? You might not be able to smell the irony, it's so thick.

As I've already stated, I entered this thread to set ignorant statements straight with respect to "Mission Accomplished","We go to war with the military we have, not the military we wish we had (I'm paraphrasing here)and the ever popular "The majority of the people realise that they were lied to and now want out of the war".
You'll notice that all of my assertions were restricted to that line of thought, because they can be backed with fact.
I discounted the message more than the messenger, and any discounting of the messenger was more a generality of "people that think that way" than anyone in particular.
That you chose to find yourself in that group has nothing to do with me.

People aren't opposed to the war because it's tough to win or that it's failing. They're opposed to the ideology behind the war, namely that if we take down 'bad' governments and replace them with 'good' governments, i.e. do a little nation building, we can defeat terrorism. But the population isn't interested in nation building no matter how many pretty bows and ribbons are put on it.
Being successful at doing something people don't want won't win votes.
Why has it changed? Because CNN told the liberal sheep, to. Apparently, there are some on our side of the aisle who hear the "BA RAM YOU" of the left.

Given your maturity level, I wouldn't be surprised.

Something's thick in your post, and it doesn't smell like irony.
