This is not about government promoting any specific religion. This is about a war memorial which has been continually targeted. And if this one is ever destroyed, then next it will be another historic monument that may contain a religious symbol or maybe just the word "God" in some inscription.
These people even fought San Diego on selling the land so that the monument could be in private ownership. We have been fought on every issue. I don't see the liberals screaming over here when Scharzeneger was selling off state government buildings. But try and sell or transfer the lang that the Mt. Soledad Memorial sits on and they go into a tizzy. So it isn't about a government / religion connection. Boil it down and it's really all about hatred - and yes ... INTOLERANCE towards specific symbols.
Pick that cross off the top of that mountain and next they'll be over pulling off or altering gravestones at Ft. Rosecrans with the same argument.

Oh, I know it isnt, TL. Its about leftists and their crusade to eradicate religion from society, at the command of their Fearless Leader, Marx. And that was my point. The left doesnt understand or intentionally "interprets" Jeffersons original words regarding Church and state incorrectly to suit their agenda.

TL- I think its about OUR religous freedom...Which we seem all to happy and willing to allow the GOV to dictate...They dont promote religion, and they cant take it either-

Well they aren't taking this cross down. The people of this city have spoken - and loudly. When we had those petitions going I talked to people from all over the world who understood this issue just as you and I do, mpano. Some even insisted on signing the petitions even though their signatures would not be counted since they didn't live here. They just wanted to make a statement about freedom in America - The People speaking and being heard.
But hey, if these liberal idiots over here was to keep on fighting this fight, then fine. We'll keep battling right back. We fully understand that it isn't just about this one cross. Of note is that the markers up there on that mountain top also include religious symbols for other faiths. I don't see the Ninth Circus whining about those - nor are the citizens here.
They just don't seem to understand that San Diego is not like the northern part of this state. We love and respect our military here. If you go out and talk to the military personnel who live here, they will even tell you how different it is here than in some other cities. They are always happy to be here. And we are honored to have them. They are what make San Diego so wonderful.
I frequently drive on a stretch of freeway near MCAS Miramar. If you ever see someone broken down or with a flat tire, your chances are very good that you'll see a couple of Marines who have stopped to put the spare tire on for some lady.

Agreed. I loved Pendleton. And as to the Marines on the roadside, I vividly remember that if you were seen to have NOT stopped to render roadside aid (at least when not under assignment) you'd hear about it....loudly. The standing order at Pendleton, reiterated often, was to go out of our way to make nice with the natives. Maybe that changed since 1989 (when 1st Intel moved there), but I sincerely hope not.

Rick Roberts had a segment on this today, with Rep. Hunter as a guest.
The podcast is available at www.760kfmb.com (http://www.760kfmb.com) . Rep Hunter has introduced the War Memorial Protection Act.
Thankyou to all who have helped to protect the Mt. Soledad Memorial over the years. I know I've written a lot about this. It is just important though.
I admire Rick Roberts for his work on this issue, as well as for his tireless work behalf of our troops. As the daughter of a career serviceman, I thank all who support those who protect what we hold dear.

Look. The Soledad Cross is NOT coming down. The lunatic left can keep coming at us with these lawsuits etc. But the cross is not coming down. The people of this city are not going to allow that to happen - period.
