Minister protests same-sex union ban with a halt to all weddings
March 12, 2007

AMHERST, Mass. --An Episcopal minister will stop performing all wedding ceremonies to protest the denomination's prohibition of same-sex unions.

If you don't like it, found your own religion, and stop trying to force your sick perversions of Christianity onto us.

"We are called to join the fast that our homosexual brothers and sisters in Christ have had to observe all their lives," said the Rev. Robert Hirschfeld, rector of Grace Episcopal Church.

And you, Hirschfeld are an enabler to sin. Lev 20:13, among other verses.
This is why we cannot give an inch to the Gay rights movement. First we endure, then tolerate, then embrace. This poison is working its way into the very blood of Christianity. We must fight it.

Several members of the congregation say they support Hirschfeld's move, which he announced in his Sunday sermon. Others said they were concerned that that the move might add to the polarization of an issue that has already divided Episcopals.

If this were done by a minister in Tennessee, he'd be thrown out of the church so fast his collar would spin. And why? Because despite what the liberals think of Tennessee, we still have some common sense.

Erica Winter, of Northampton, said working for social justice often involves giving up something.

Christians are called upon to be a nation apart. If the gays wanna marry, let them found their own religion. Why are they hell bent on gaining access to ours?

"I'm so proud to be a part of this," Nina Scott, a congregant from Amherst, said. "It's a step that needs to be taken."

I wonder about the state of your soul, Miss Scott.

Two priest associates at Grace Church, the Rev. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas and the Rev. Burton Whiteside, also said they won't perform marriages.

Then you won't get any ministerial fees for performing them. You ain't the only monkeys in this circus.

"I am convinced that when gays and lesbians are baptized, they become full members of the body of Christ," said Bullitt-Jonas. "They are not partial members or conditional members or second-class members."

They might be Christians, but Christianity says Homosexuality is wrong. Therefore, it is a sin, and should have been cast aside when you convert.
The Gays are hanging on to it. And I suspect many are only joining to poison our faith. That's one church I'll never attend. God's not present in there, I'm certain of it. I'm going to Breakfast, I'll be back in a bit.

CINO. Christians in name only. The Bible says no. If you don't like that, then denounce God and become a liberal.

Demanding that Christians accept gays is like walking into a KFC and ordering Tofu.

Minister protests gay marriage ban by boycotting all weddings.I agree with the Dr. Madd, As a Lutheran I find the apologist hyperbole of deviant behavior unacceptable. I would not be part of a congregation that endorsed that.

As a middle aged Protestant I still have still have animosity regarding the Missouri Synod. Although, not a Catholic I am outraged at the edicts of the Second Vatican Council.

IMHO, there is no religion for me. There is myself and God, no middle man, ritual or earthly tribute required. Churches however do provide fellowship which should not be underestimated in a community. They also provide the basic biblical study needed for a child to accept the Spirit. The ritual, glitz and drum roll however I think distracts from the basics.

How can the evangelical calling be met if time & energy is wasted drawing in less than marginal Pastors or parishioners for the sole sake of consensus?

We all know right from wrong. None of us should pick up the first stone, the second or the third. We however should not lift those who chose the wrong path upon a pedestal. Our judgment on our neighbors really doesn't matter in the end. Murder, rape or what ever crime a man does here in our community I feel that it is not our job to punish but to protect others in our community. Punishment does not come from us. That is not to say that we cannot send those that we believe truly deserve punishment on their merry way.

Dr. Madd I have taken myself on a tangent, though in my mind a logical one. When do we say enough is enough? Religions, both Protestant and Catholic have both extended themselves beyond the point of acceptability just to maintain social & political status. There needs to be some reigning in. Back to basics.

Wow, you have got to love this guy. I bet those who go to his church are very proud and the masses are growing too.

Sadly, I think this is what persecution does........and what may be coming down the tubes in the not to distant future.
