View Full Version : Global Warming Emergency

It looks like we do indeed have a global warming emergency. We've all seen the headlines, we've seen the media and the Hollywood 'experts' rush out to warn us. It's time we heed their warning. We have a global warming emergency alright, but the emergency isn't about temperature. The real emergency is these Hollywood morons who continue to show their utter ignorance and arrogance by insulting our intelligence.

Apparent global warming expert, actor Josh Hartnett (http://www.wwtdd.com/post.phtml?pk=1841), explains his credentials for alerting us about the problem of global warming - "I grew up in Minnesota which is usually a cold place, but we’ve seen abnormally warm winters the last couple of years, which is unnerving." I'll tell you what is unnerving. It's a 28 year old actor that thinks that a couple warm winters is a sign of global chaos. What is even more unnerving is a bunch of even moronic people who give any credence to such statements. Well, I have good news for you Josh, today the wind chills in Maine (http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/02/05/D8N3JIDO1.html) are almost 50 degrees below zero. Your home state of Minnesota is seeing wind chills in excess of 40 degrees below zero. Numerous schools are closed (http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/02/05/D8N3KJJ00.html) due to the dangers of almost immediate frostbite to exposed skin.

So Josh, it looks like you can relax. Since you base your claims of global warming on "a couple of warm winters" these recent headlines should make you feel much better. Don't insult my intelligence by thinking for one minute I will take the word of some Hollywood kid who feels he somehow is an authority on global climate change because he had a couple of warm winters in his young life. This planet has been around for billions of years. Do you honestly think I'm stupid enough or gullible enough to listen to anything you might have to say? I'm not. And the more these people talk the more the rest of us should see how absolutely arrogant and insulting they really are.

isn't the first sign of global warmong colder temperatures? the ice caps melt, putting cold wateris put in the ocean which messes up the currents causing cooler weather, just my input, personally i believe in global warming, but nothing we caused, its a natural phenomena thats gonna happen, won't destroy the world, but its there.
and i totally didn't know that being famous made you smart. i'm sick of liberal hollywood trying to be political and save the world, its bull crap.

OMG! The survival of humanity is at stake!

Personally, I see it more like the corruption of science for political gain.

But there's money to be made off of the Global Warming hype and if there's one thing that the Hollywood crowd does know, it's hype. I've never heard of this Josh guy before so perhaps this is a way of making a bigger name for himself.

Hope you warm up over there SF and anyone else who is suffering in that cold. MAN, I would die in that weather! We watched the Super Bowl outside in the gazebo yesterday because it was so warm and gorgeous. Why, I think I might have to go out there again today for a little sunshine and R&R. A couple of steaks on the BBQ with a nice glass of California chardonnay as the sun sets beyond my palm trees. Yeah...I freaking LOVE global warming! Thankyou George W. Bush!!! :bowdown1:

It was 20 below 0 with the windshield this morning here in Indianapolis. I sure wish global warming was real because I'm sick of this bitter cold. Hey, George W., since you and your evil conservative industrialist buddies control the climate, can you turn up the heat here in Indy?

P.S. GO COLTS!!! Super Bowl Champs!

I really hate all this global warming talk. And I hate having to write about it and put it in the headlines here. But as long as the media keeps blaming EVERYTHING on global warming, I'll do what I can in my little corner of the Internet to show the other side. Seriously - does Josh Harnett and his ilk even think about what they say? They had a couple warm winters as in the past couple years and this makes them unnerved so that jump on the global warming bus. Sorry - the global warming hydrogen powered alternative energy solar powered economy car. Does he get at all unnerved when he sees record cold temperatures then too? Of course not. The kid is obviously not too bright.

It's 15 degrees here, which isn't that bad. But it's extremely windy.

Everyone believes they can make a call about GW exactly for the reason Joshy did here. I have friends who said they were discussing GW and how it seemed like as kids how there was much more snow. Not cold mind you, snow.

Living in Western Pa, its even more absurd to think its real (like they do) because we haven't been hit with as many snow showers. Lake effect snow hits us hard, and some years we get it, some years we don't. And we've had a little string were we haven't gotten as much. But now, since they are such experts on watching the damn weather, they can make a conclusive statement that GW is real.

That is against everything that is science. Coming to a preconceived notion with little or no empirical evidence to back up their (poorly formed) hypothesis. And I've told these people why GW isn't hardly as bad as the media is making it up to be, they say oh, it makes sense. Then two months later they forget everything and "GW IS THE END OF THE WORLD AGAIN!!!~1eleven!".

In everything in every American's lives, they need to turn off the damn T.V. and do personal research so they can make a correct informed decision. We've become too dependent on the stupid box and the media has taken full advantage of it.

I know I've said this before but I'll say it again, if you haven't already read it, read State of Fear by Micheal Crichton. It will make you feel happy to know that their is one celebrity (of course he's not an actor he's an author, and he is very very well educated) that thinks global warming isn't all it's cracked up to be. He got alot of critisism from the global warming freaks for writing this book. So put him on your list of celebrities to support. Buy his books. I have read all of them and they are delicious. : )

I hate it when these "actors" feel it necessary to notify the nation that something is wrong.
I guess Josh.....whatever his last name is.....hasn't had his name in the media lately so he has to let everyone know he is still out there. (Self-promotion, I guess)

These "golbal warming experts", maybe right, the climate is changing. But isn't that what climates do?
It would be like the first cavemen, seeing the appearance of the moon and becoming terrorized by it distinguishing their fading sun. They would go out and throw rocks at the moon until it would go away, and the sun would return.
Hence, they learned that by throwing rocks at the moon.....you make the sun appear.
This process of saving the sun was repeated on a nightly basis.

The real lesson learned here.....
Just because something appears to be one way, doesn't necessarily make it so.
It was once thought that the earth was flat, and the sun rotated around it.

When will these people wake up?

Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). This in fact is the greatest deception in the history of science. We are wasting time, energy and trillions of dollars while creating unnecessary fear and consternation over an issue with no scientific justification.

Global Warming, as we think we know it, doesn't exist. Read more here (http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/global-warming020507.htm).

Yea I just had one of my professor's tell me and the rest of our class that "An Inconvenient Truth" isn't propaganda but that's substantiated fact. She didn't really play up the fact that Al Gore created it. But because she's claiming that Global Warming is 'fact' she's absolutely lost all credibility in my book.

But I do have a random conspiracy theory just to be an ass. You honestly think its just coincidence that both Global Warming and our president are called GW? Muahahahahahahha

If Global warming occurs, it is part of the natural climatic cycle. The warmer weather melts ice caps, cooling the water, causing cooler temperatures, cools things down and then refreezes on the ice caps. Global warming on the scale they speak of? Not gonna happen. The Liberals are acting like a bunch of painted Savages on an island, pointing at a Volcano and shouting that the gods are angry when it erupts. I got it.. Maybe they should throw Hillary into it to Satiate them. Maybe they did..That's why they're angry.

I KNOW global warming is utter BS. I believe it was created as an attempt to scare people into cleaning up the environment. You know how bad many pollutants are for you? You know what damaging the environment does to the local flora and fauna? Bad stuff. But instead of getting people to clean up their act for that reason, they decided to make their case more forceful: tell everyone the earth is going to flood (or freeze) unless they stop polluting as much.

OR, global warming could be much more sinister. It could very easily be an attempt to spread Marxism. Think about it-what better way to promote a cause of central planning and intrusive government than spreading an idea that private concerns need to be placed behind environmental concerns? (Rush Limbaugh). By using environmentalism, socialists have a way of making people become less concerned with their private lives. Also, environmentalism is made up to be a "global struggle," clearly an easy way to "unite" the world under socialism.

As for the Hollywood types spouting their BS, Rush Limbaugh best analyzes this. Hollywood types feel guilty about making so much money pretending to be people they are not. They don't feel they deserve it, so they want to be known for something else. Supposing they fall into the environmentalist camp, after reading only the smallest amount of propaganda, they begin to champion the cause because it gives them a sense of meaning. When Hollywood types promote causes like environaziism, really it is just a way of obtaining self-satisfaction.

if global warming is going to kill us all, then why is it that there are numerous deaths being reported around American cities of deaths due to the cold. Also where did the global cooling corwd go from back in the late 70's and early 80's. wasnt that going to kill us too. also for the global warming experts, we were supposed to have a terrible hurricane season followed by the mildest winter in years. oops didnt happen. why arent we seeing any reports from mainstream media questioning global warming with all these harsh winter deaths?

They were wrong then as they are now.

There's a poll out that only 13% of congressional Republicans believe global warming is caused by man.

We have had Warming trends in the past. The Climate changes. It has warm periods and cooling periods. There were ice ages in Africa that predate the Dinosaurs.

I couldn't agree with you more FKLBRLS! I have always thought that the reason so many celebrities jump on this environmentalist bandwagon is becuase they (perhaps subconscously) feel guilty for how much money they have for such little effort. They in turn look for something they can do to get rid of the guilt. They then look to us "normal people" and wonder why we're not doing the same? Maybe it's cause I work my butt off to earn what little I do. I feel no guilt whatsoever spending my money on me or my family and not some third world countries. While I am glad that some celebrities are doing volunteer work in other countries, I can't help but see it as the way they shed some guilt for being rich with such ease. The same goes for the global warming crowd, it's just another fabrication to help them shed guilt. When Angelina Jolie can do volunteer work without having a full camera crew with her 24/7, then I will admire what she is doing. I happen to know a few people who do volunteer work on a regular basis with no recognition. That is true service. . .

Sorry I know this is a little off topic, but FKLBRLS just got me riled up : )

Exactly. Very likely it is just a publicity thing. All the people that volunteer in hospitals and whatnot, their reward is doing the work. When, after Hurricane Katrina, me and a bunch of other folks searched through HUNDREDS of backpacks, making sure they were stocked, to send to Mississippi, no camereas watched us. When every Sunday me and 6 other guys get to church an hour or two early to make sure the lights are set up, make sure the song lyrics are programmed, the sound system checked, and the sermon notes ready for display on the screen, do you think anyone watches us? No, we stay up there and do our own little thing.

As I have said before, I do believe in global warming. I just don't think it is humans fault, global warming is earth's natural cycle. It's happened two times in the past, between three ice ages. we are in the third global warming stage.
