Some people need to read this again: (AND AGAIN!)

I've noticed and extreme overuse of the "Quote" feature of the site. It seems that almost every post starts with a quote from a previous post. This is very useful when replying to a specific part of a users post but please refrain from quoting the entire previous post. It just makes the threads terribly long, uses up server space, and makes it very difficult to wade through. If it continues, I'll just remove the quote button entirely.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE QUOTE BUTTON AS YOUR REPLY BUTTON - USE THE REPLY BUTTON!

If you want to use the quote feature,

1. Simply hightlight the text that you want in the quote and copy it.
2. Paste it into your reply
3. Highlight the pasted text and click the "quote" icon at the top of the page that looks like a little notepad. This will add Quote tags to that text.

AND, even more importantly...

You also need to read the rules about posting just to run up your number of posts. The rule that will be much more strictly enforced it is: If your post doesn't add to the topic or the debate then don't post it! Adding a post that just consists of a bunch of smiley icons, or "yeah, that's funny" or "Hahahahahaha" doesn't do anyting for the site, the topic, or the interest of those reading the thread. Those posts are going to be deleted. And I'm sure we will get tired of constantly deleting posts by a few of the worst offenders if you catch my drift. It is hard enough to try to keep things somewhat interesting without wading through a bunch of meaningless posts. Believe me, both Wadi and I have better things to do. At least I know I do.

But Boss, a lot of time when dealing with a post it's helpful and some times necessary, especially when you're dealing with an antagonist, to make use of the quotes.

From my experience, it allows one to deal with their argument in context on a point by point basis.

Is there some happy medium that you 'd be satisfied with.

Is there some happy medium that you 'd be satisfied with. This is what I mean - I've quoted your entire thread directly after you posted yours. So now you have to wade through a quote of something that was just written in the previous post. In this case, I could just reply to your posts directly instead of quoting anything.

Instead, if you must use the quote, only quote the portion you are directly responding to...

Is there some happy medium that you 'd be satisfied with.Like that.

What IHL is saying. DO NOT quote someone when you are replying directly after them. DO quote only the section you are replying too. Copy/paste it and then add an =username after the 'E' in the first quote box.
. Or use the quote button but delete all irrelevant material from the quote. If you want to reply to the whole post. Chop it up and quote each section and respond to it by section.

What if you quote the whole thread, point by point with the intention of shredding it, point by point. Or, with the intention of making sure that the person you're shredding isn't going to plead ignorance with respect to what they said?

Not to beat a dead horse or anything.

OK, lets not make rocket science out this.

See Thumbies post? Perfect example of what NOT to do.
