I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the Ohio State Buckeyes. There is one former player in particular who must love the authorities. He must have a love of spending time in jail.
http://www.nbc4i.com/news/9651643/detail.html
Police said they used Mace and a Taser gun to arrest former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett Wednesday morning after they found an arsenal of weapons inside an SUV he was driving.
Police then found an arsenal of weapons inside the SUV, including a loaded AK-47 rifle and three loaded handguns. A hatchet, clothing and an open bottle of vodka were also taken from the vehicle, Wayne reported.
Might I add that he also was wearing a bullet proof vest.. For what? In January of this year he was wanted and eventually indicted on Robbery and weapons charges.
Is this what happens when you feel you are big enough to go pro and then get turned down? Is it that bad Maurice? If so, thank God I never played college football, let alone failed at going pro. I may have had to turn to a life of crime.
Any comments?

Seems like the local news has nothing else to talk about when he screws up. I think it's a shame though; he was a talented player, and could have had a good career in the NFL.

Goose- He was a good player but I don't know really what happened to him. He just was a really cocky guy.
I don't know whether to really be surprised or not.

obviously the NFL saw something in him that was not condusive to Professional Sports so to prove them wrong he became a criminal. Seems like the NFL was right in their choice not to sign him

Well what do you expect? He did go to OSU. Now if he would have gone to Penn State none of this would ever of happened.
Seriously, I think it was a mix of things. His childhood, his friends, and everything combined with the life of a football star can all turn pretty volatile. And I guess some people like him just can't handle all of the pressure.
Oh and by the way, we'll be making all you Buckeye fans cry on the 23rd! WE ARE! PENN STATE!!! :icon_mrgr

Haha Schmitty... I loved Joe Paterno.. He was a great coach. (wait he retired right? I may be getting ahead of myself)
I am more of a Boilermaker but my husband is a die hard Buckeye fan so I'm starting to pick that up. Whatever keeps the peace in the house! =)

Nope Joe is still coaching, and I believe he is going to be 80 during this season. He actually had a physical recently and Joe Pa's doc told him he could coach another 10 years.
Just the news we wanted to hear and the media didn't.

Not to mention the evading police and resisting arrest, he's going to spend a lot of time behind bars for the weapons.
He's already been indicted for robbery and, you guessed it... weapons charges.
It's embarrassing.

Hey now, not all of them are bums... you have to be fair.. even if you don't like OSU you can't brand them all like that.

It seems as if athletes in athletic sports are trending towards crime and all sorts of misbehaviors.
This is why chess is the way to go. I mean really, how many chess players do you know of are criminals?...excluding Bobby Fisher.

Dude didn't you see X-men? Magneto totally played chess!
Anyway, I think this is a really crazy story, he was obviosly planning something, so I think he should get at least a year or two in jail, let him cool his heels. Embarssesment for the entire Ohio State team.

That's really ignorant to say. Where's your link showing this?
It's one thing to say Maurice Claurett is a bum or a thug because he is, but to label every single OSU player one is idiotic.
