I was just curious before I buy an iPod converter/transmitter/whatever for my truck, does anyone have any suggestions? I have a FM transmitter, but it's signal is too weak, and the almost constant static and blurbs from other stations isn't worth the music. I tried it on all the stations it offered, and no luck. So, any ideas? Thanks.

Why not? I think Apple's iPod has saved my life a few times in class.

The iPod is the shiznit. The fm transmitter, on the other hand, is not. More accurately, the shielding around the antenna connector and along its wire is blocking the signal. It has to be shielded to block out the engine noise. Ok, here's the deal, first a couple of questions:
1. What kind of player is your car stereo (tape, cd, etc)
2. Does it have an amp?
Lemme know, there are lots of ways to do it and I've pretty much tried 'em all.

I don't have a tape player, and I think that distorts the sound...

The main reason is because Apple purposely put in a battery that cannot be replaced. Usually you get two years out of an iPod before it dies and you have to buy a whole new one.

haha, sorry about that. It's the 30 gigabyte video, it cost around 300 $.....and it was worth every penny. I love it. If you mean how much am I willing to pay to get it working in my truck, as little as possible, but I don't really want to spend more than about 100.

DA, you can get the battery in your iPod replaced. Read this:

Also, you might have to cut into the wires at the back of your deck. That's pretty much the only way, unless you wanna mount your FM transmitter at an area that's not shielded from RF noise, which usually is only the antenna mast itself. If your deck doesn't have an AUX input you might be stuck buying another deck if you wanna have any other options.
The good news is that decks with iPod connections aren't much more expensive than normal decks. The bad news is that you gotta install it or pay to have it installed.
Or, you could just burn CDs with the tracks you want. You could also get a CD deck that supports MP3 files (I did this in my last car) and have 700 MB worth of MP3s per disc, which isn't bad.
I am curious to know what you do, let us know!

I have a 4 GB Static Memory SamSung with an LCD for pictures AND music, and USB connectivity that can be used simply for file storage. GG Apple.

MP3 is the way to go. I'm sick of paying so much more for brand name items. Except Oreos.
