I just got thrown into a pool by one of my idiot friends at a party, and my phone was in my pocket. Do you guys have any suggestions? It won't even turn on.

Depends on how long it was wet. The best way you can try and save it is to take out the battery and let everything it dry out. Hopefully if anything is busted its just the battery, its a whole lot cheaper than buying a new phone. I know from experience.

I say, good thing there was water in the pool, or you'd be asking a different question... :icon_wink

Put it in the dryer.

Seriously though, it's gone. Go buy yourself a new one and hope that your SIM card isn't fried too. I dropped mine outside once and found it the next day after it rained, it would only turn on for about 4 seconds at a time.

And if you're one of those 'people' who likes to pay $500 for a cellphone, then .

I was fishing behind my house last summer and my pole fell in the water...(a $200 setup I may add). Well, I jumped in after it, totally forgetting that my phone was in my pocket.

I opened it up, let it dry for a couple of days and still nothing...it was hosed. I called Cingular to tell them about it and to see if anything could be done, but the dude never once asked me how I messed it up (I just got it like 2 months before) and I didn't volunteer any information:cool: . He sent out a replacement free of charge.

Now, this kid I taught during that time worked at Best Buy and was one with the electronics. He told me that most phones have a water indicator somewhere in them that will tell on you that shows that damage occurred because of water. I never got a call, but did get a new phone.

But anyways, just open it up as much as possible, you might have to get a new SIM card and new battery...something else you might want to look into is the damage insurance that you can get for your phone. I got it for like $3.50 per month and it covers anything...even if I lose the phone.

i'm drying it out. the phone itself really isn't a big deal, the guy who pushed me in is willing to pay for whatever. Its the numbers. It's an LG and has no sim card, the numbers are stored in the phone. Its a nice phone, a free upgrade the the model they kept giving me kept breaking, but now, shit.Whatever, maybe tomorrow after drying out tonight. Thanks.
