View Full Version : What is wrong with me?
I should have made a forum about this long ago. I'm getting pretty tired of the whole global warming thing. But, some people won't let it die. I have even heard some people I respect highly succumb to the myth that is global warming.
I may copy some previous threads into this forum but I'm sure with the upcoming hurricane season, we'll hear plenty from the Hollywood hurricane experts like Barbie Streisand about how George Bush and global warming are to blame.
ABC News (for lack of a better name) is actually soliciting people to send in their "evidence" of global warming. This is the sort of thing that disturbs me. They take a controversial topic like global warming and don't present it in a fair manner. They rarely if ever offer a debate - instead they operate under the premise that it absolutely exists and now they want you to send in your stories.
Well I for one can tell you global warming exists. I've seen it first hand. Not more than 3 months ago the temperature around here was at least 40 degrees colder. Things are warming up at an alarming rate. I think Al Gore is right.
Have some fun with this...

Here's my story of how...this is so hard to do...of how global warming affected me. *sob*
In 11th grade Honors Trig we plotted a sine curve of temperature fluctuations. The resulting curve showed a periodic displacement of high and low temperatures on a roughly 80 year period. That means every 40 years we see a trend of high temperatures, then for another 40 years we see a trend of low temperatures.
Isolating current years we found that the peak high temperatures on the 80 year period existed in 2005.
That's my story of how global warming affected me, it hasn't. I personally know of 30 people who were witnessess to this mathematical fact. Can you please show me any mathematical or scientific fact, may I remind you that I said FACT, not theory, that global warming exists. Biased rhetoric from Barbara Streisand, Al Gore, and other "experts" are all examples of what cannot be included as factual evidence.
Thank you.

I'll give you one. Last month, I didn't need my air conditioning, this month, I can't live without it. Now that is a FACT supported by the eye witness account of several unrelated people.

The planet is heating up. There's no doubt about it. The evidence is there and can't be refuted.
What is NOT there, however, is any evidence that it's caused by man. There is, however, evidence that the sun is at fault. I've said it many times here, and lots of my fellow scientists say it all the time. Of course, don't count on ABC "news" giving them any coverage.
ABC News (for lack of a better name) is actually soliciting people to send in their "evidence" of global warming
That's disturbing, on a few levels. For one, very few people know anything about the scientific method, collecting true evidence, proving a hypothesis, etc. Liberals with an agenda know even less. It's also disturbing that they would solicit evidence to prove anything! They are the "journalists," they should be collecting evidence to support both sides and then let the viewer decide.

Man, Wadi, I completely did not expect that. I'm gonna go right back to ABCNews and apologize immediately. :icon_mrgr

Here is a firsthand account of how global warming affected me. In the summer of 2002, I was soaking in the above-average temperatures present in the greater Sacramento area. It was summer and the temp hadn't been below 100 in like 2 weeks. Then that one day it was supposed to be 115. We decided to spend the day at the lake, a little-known reservoir way up in the mountains off I-80 called Lake Valley Reservoir (we called it Sky Mountain, after the street that runs through the campground on the other side). Well up at 7000 feet or whatever it was it was 85 f*cking degrees! The water felt refreshing under the sun that beat down like a hot stove that one absent-mindedly puts his hand on. Then on the way back we stopped at the Jack In the Box in Auburn. We were at 5000 feet elevation, IN THE SHADE and it was 111. 111! THIS IS GLOBAL WARMING I TELL YOU!!! (keep in mind Sacramento has never hit 115 since then, and overall temps are on a downward decline).
That same summer, I forget if it was before or after, we went to the Roseville Public Pool (Aquatic Center), to get out of the heat. It was maybe 100-something. Well I didn't have any sandals, so I had to walk on the hot pavement all the way to the entrance. The asphalt burned so hot so I decided that perhaps, just maybe, a metal grate would be a bit cooler. The SOB was even hotter! Global warming caused this, it did. Only global warming could make me feel like I was transversing a stove!
