View Full Version : USA In Economic Blunder

What is the real story behind the US economy.
To simply put it, our economy is being manipulated and we as the American public are being lied to. AMERICAN INFLATION RATES ARE LIES, And its destroying the value of the American dollar.
Official government statistics tell us the core Consumer Price Index (CPI) – the most widely used measure of inflation – is a mere 2.4% a year.
But if inflation is really so low, then why are you seeing skyrocketing prices for almost everything you buy?
In just the past year, housing nationwide has gone up by an average of 13%. Winter heating bills are up 25 to 40% . . . health insurance is up 12% . . . many foods are up 10% or more . . . and oil is up over 80%.
The government also manipulates the CPI by not including Oil and Food inflation.
The Rising National debt is a heavy contributing force into the de-valuing of the dollar and mass inflation.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0314/p01s02-uspo.html
Are current debt is not sustainable and the administration wants to keep spending, as does Congress. THIS IS A MAJOR FACTOR IN INFLATION AND WE ARE REACHING THE BRINK.
Bernanke: Budget Deficits Endanger Economy
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/3/14/163001.shtml?s=lh
"The prospective increase in the budget deficit will place at risk future living standards of our country," Bernanke said. "As a result, I think it would be very desirable to take concrete steps to lower the prospective path of the deficit."
Not only is the Federal Budget and government spending out of control, America's trade deficit is at all time highs:
America went deeper into debt to foreigners last year as the deficit in the broadest measure of foreign trade hit a record $804.9 billion.
So far, foreigners have been happy to sell Americans their cars, television sets and oil and take U.S. dollars in payments. But economists worry that the trade deficit has grown so large that foreigners may balk at holding so much of their investments in U.S. stocks, bonds and other assets.
If they began dumping their U.S. assets, that could send the value of U.S. stocks and bonds plunging, pushing up American interest rates and weakening the value of the dollar. If the disruptions were severe enough, it could push the country into a recession.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11821768
That is more Deficit and more loans adding to inflation figures and more money that we have to pay back.
More about are EVER EXPANDING TRADE DEFICIT:
Mann says the U.S. and its foreign creditors are locked in a relationship of "co-dependency." The U.S. wants to consume more than it produces, so it borrows the difference from abroad. Foreign countries are willing to keep lending, by buying U.S. Treasury securities, so their export factories stay busy with American orders.

When I say America is being Whored out and that we are basically a foreign government... I REALLY MEAN IT!
America is bought and paid by foreign investment.
THANK YOU FREE TRADE!!!!
You see why I am against the PORT DEAL... BECAUSE OF THIS CRAP. This says a lot about America and what are economic situation is.
You all think the great depression was bad, Just wait till we see the consequences of this FIASCO!
AND WE HAVE A WAVE OF BABY BOOMERS READY TO RETIRE... Its only the beginning.

What I fear is the day when the taxpayers are going to be eating this enormous federal budget that has been proposed. It may not be next year, but surely here soon though. The government has been careless with it's spending. Sure a war and a couple of natural disasters have hit us hard in the pockets...but that means you have to trim the fat somewhere else...
What would happen if a family was basically living paycheck to paycheck with a lot of debt and a catastrophe happens, say an uninsured accident to your house? You have to pay, say $10,000 out of pocket. You would have limited choices...
-you could live with the loss of that part of the house
-you could stop spending on something else to pay for the loss
-you could get a loan (which puts you further in debt)
-but something you couldn't do is dream up more money out of nowhere...which is something our gov't continues to do with no remorse.
I am tired of hearing Bush and Congress and whatnot continue to ask for “50 billion more dollars for this” and “100 billion more dollars for that”. This war has been a money pit from day one, but instead of making the oil tycoons over in Iraq pay for this shit, the US doesn’t want to be labeled by the liberals as mercenaries, so we do it for free! WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THAT? We can’t fix our own school systems, etc because of money shortages, but we have a bottomless wallet for foreign govt’s??? That is BULLSHIT and this type of thing is what is going to KILL the republicans in this next election because people don’t like to lose their money…and then the shit will hit the fan when the democrats are back in control.
That recent budget proposal was one of the most reckless things this current gov't has done. It flies directly in the face with what republicans PROMISED the American people back when they took back control of the Senate and House, that they were going to stop overspending and cut back on everything the gov’t spends on. But yet, they are failing to live by their word. Which makes for hard reelections.

THANK YOU FREE TRADE!!!!
You know my dad lost his job as a direct result of NAFTA. He is was a Structural Engineer for a large Southern textile milling corporation, which decided to pack up shop and move to Mexico. Luckily my dad is educated and skilled, so it wasn't hard for him to get another job. But for the tens of thousands of unskilled mill workers, where were they going to go? 7-11? Ahmed already owns that shit and employs his entire family...
What happened to live American, buy American? Why have we allowed ourselves to be so dependent on foreign trade?
And this clusterf-ck called NAFTA...OMGosh...so we are supposed to give up our riches for 20 to 40 years to build up the economies in Canada and Mexico? Screw that...call me selfish if one wants, but I believe in helping your own family out before helping someone else. And now there is CAFTA..which is even more ridiculous!

The government continues to try to tell us that the economy is strong, everything is good, but I didn't believe it for one minute.
I'm a littl worried about what may happen in the future. Another depression?
To Devil and Dag, how do we stop this from happening? Do we as the people have any control or is there anything we can do about this?
Bush has broken a lot of promises. He's like his dad... "Read my lips, no new taxes!" And what happened? New taxes. Bush promises cut on spending, and what happened? More spending.

To Devil and Dag, how do we stop this from happening? Do we as the people have any control or is there anything we can do about this?
I'd start praying...seriously!
But about the only other thing we can do is to stress our disinterest in these continued fiascos. It is a Congressional election year...you may be only one vote...but vote. Write your congressmen...trust me,...someone (a staffer more than likely) will write back. If enough complaints are received, shit may actually start changing. We (conservatives) don't have control of the media, so we are at a loss there. But we have to show the Republicans that this party line voting bullshit was yesteryear...the Republican Party needs a reformation back to ideal conservatism. I'll NEVER vote democrat, but I may be voting Constitutionalist out of pure principle to show the Republicans that I don't like their recent reindeer games.
On a positive note, there are a handful of Republican Senators that are speaking out against much of this administrations policies as well as the failure to the conservative block that has taken place.

I say cut all social programs to start with (from socialist security, welfare, medicare, farm substities, etc) then stop giving out to foriegn gov'ts. Do this until at least the deficit is balanced, which shouldn't take that long if truly everything was cut.
On the social security note...lemme rephrase that...weed it out of the system over a course of 5 years. It is true, but unfortunate, that people rely soley on that...pshhh...relying on socialist venues in a capitalist society... :icon_roll

To Devil and Dag, how do we stop this from happening? Do we as the people have any control or is there anything we can do about this?
Of course we have control over this. I think DAG answered your question perfectly. WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMEN. GET INVOLVED WITH OUR LEGISLATIVE PROCESS!
Rep. Pat Tiberi, Sen. Dewine, and Sen. Voinovich are all going to be getting very stern letters from me here within the next couple of days citing my disgust and anger at how our government is handeling its economic situation.
Not only do we do what you just said DAG, (Cut entitlement programs) but we also need to disband the Federal Reserve. TOTALLY GET RID OF IT, Like Andrew Jackson did back in 1834. And back our dollar currency up with GOLD and other precious metals. Like JFK tried to do in the early 60's but was assasinated for trying to impliment such a program.
We do that, we will be fine. But it will only happen if WE THE PEOPLE mandate that it happen.
Our country is going to suffer DIRE CONSEQUENCES if we do not get this country's economic situation under control.
Back in the 80's during the Reagan era, people where upset that we reached 1 trillion dollars of national debt.
20 years later, you know what are national debt is now?
Almost 8.3 TRILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!! So from 1776 to the 1980's we as a country built up a national debt of 1 trillion.
Then from the 1980's to 2006 the national debt has jumped by 7.3 TRILLION DOLLARS $$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Washington D.C. is out of control.

Congressman Louis McFadden, Chairman of the House Banking and Currency Committee (1928-1935), commented about the Federal Reserve and international banks:
"It [the depression] was not accidental. It was a carefully contrived occurrence....The international bankers sought to bring about a condition of despair here so that they might emerge as the rulers of us all." ...The end result, if the Insiders have their way, will be the dream of Montagu Norman of the Bank of England "that the Hegemony of World Finance should reign supreme over everyone, everywhere, as one whole super-national control mechanism."
and
"Some people think the Federal Reserve Banks are U.S. government institutions. They are not government institutions. They are private credit monopolies which prey upon the people of the U.S. for the benefit of themselves and their foreign and domestic swindlers, and rich and predatory money lenders."
President Andrew Jackson also warned of a central bank and how they could control America, such as the Federal Reserve is doing now:
"The bold efforts that the present bank has made to control the government and the distress it has wantonly caused, are but premonitions of the fate which awaits the American people should they be deluded into a per- petuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it...If the people only understood the rank injustice of our money and banking system there would be a revolution before morning."
President Abe Lincoln also warned of Financial institution's and their control:
"I have two great enemies: the Southern Army in front of me, and the financial institutions to my rear. Of the two, the one in my rear is my greatest foe..."
Thomas Jefferson Said this of financial institutions and their abilities:
“I sincerely believe ... that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity under the name of funding is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”
and
"The Central Bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the principles and form of our Constitution."
Franklin D. Roosevelt said this of Finacial institutions:
"The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson."
The current money system under the Federal Reserve is Un-Constitutional. The Constitution says this about America's money system and how to pay debt:
"No State shall enter into any treaty, alliance, or confederation; grant letters of marque and reprisal; coin money; emit letters of credit; make any thing but gold and silver coin a tender in payment of debts; pass any bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law impairing the obligation of contracts, or grant any title of nobility." (Article I, Section 10)

People are so damn ignorant now it's unreal. I used to work alot of warehouse work, physical labor and such, and I see how un-educated alot of people are and how strongly they feel on their opinions as well. They believe George Bush is at fault for everything because he is in office: it has become a trend to hate him nowadays. Liberal media is pulling the shades over the eyes of everybody I believe...actually Political media in general. Each party is at eachother's throats so much that the general public is getting extremely biased media most of the time. Especially on the television. The reason why nobody really sees this US debt and the future consequences is because nobody is being educated! They are glued to the TV, believing what Comedy Central has to say about political issues rather than getting un-biased news on a subject and forming your own opinion.
Just like someone said earlier...republicans are obviously not in the media, especially since Liberal media turns out to be more of a comedy show then actual debate about an issue. The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, Bill Maher, etc. etc. find political issues as a way to make a good punchline. People take that kind of media to heart because, you know who wants to watch something if it isn't entertaining? People actually believe what these COMEDIANS are saying and commenting on is what's really going on. On top of that, TV today is blinding society. Everybody is so engulfed with the latest Reality TV show that they are not looking AT reality. We the People can change the situation we are in, but this Liberal vs Republican media poster has turned the nation blind to what's really going on. Nobody is standing up! 90% of Liberals I actually talk to don't go out and vote, because they believe everybody else is screwing up society and they want no part in the voting process, that way they have the right to say "well look what everybody else did!"...when the fact is they are screwing up society by not voting! The United States voice is not being heard at all because of this...If we could get just 50% of non-voters nowadays to get off their ass and vote, the government would HAVE to change their ways because We the People say so!
Nobody realizes this...it's getting scary how ignorant people are with politics, and the fact that what everybody is defending is so biased and blind to the truth...just because of the simple fact that they won't turn off their TV...that is Made in China.

The Colbert Report isn't bad, he makes fun of lots of liberals on that show, but I agree about the rst of them. I have seen firsthand in my school the way kids parrot exactly what they hear on CNN or what teachers and parents say. I think I'm gonna pay a teacher to say something not true thats Anti Bush and see if I can get all the dumbasses in my school to start saying it.

THANK YOU FREE TRADE!!!!
Whoa whoa whoa! Hold on there slim!
What "free trade" are YOU talking about?
Last time I checked America wasn't in any REAL free trade programs.
NAFTA? Pht, if NAFTA is free trade, then I'm a monkey's uncle.
America is part of several pseudo-free trade programs, but not a single true free trade program. Americans are too afraid of job outsourcing lie to accept REAL free trade.
If foreign companies abandon American assets, then American companies will abandon foreign assets, and while WE can recover, the same cannot be said for them.
Abandoning trade is in no one's interest, and I'd like to see just what "economists" are concerned about foreign pull out and subsequent recession, especially since the amount of foreign investment that would have to be pulled out is simply unrealistic.
But there IS a global economy, kiddies, and it IS a major factor in OUR economy, and it is not going away ANYTIME soon. You can either play ball and accept the natural progression of capitolism and all the benefits that entails, or you can be a turtle and you can try to hide.
But closing your eyes and hoping it goes away doesn't do jack.
But don't blame free trade for your problems, cause America doesn't practice free trade. Hence why almost all of South America lives in poverty and hates us.
But, before everyone starts screaming to the roof tops about trade deficit, remember that is common knowledge in economic circles that trade deficits are not inheirently bad.
I agree that the federal deficit is far too large and A LOT of federal spending HAS to stop, but free trade is not the problem.
The problem is LACK of free trade.
Free trade works, foreign investment works. Singapore and Taiwan are PRIME examples.
But when you do the half ass bullshit that America does, you get problems. Big problems. Problems like this.

Don't get me wrong, the funny thing is I watch all of those shows. Not for political news though, that's my point, haha. They are comedy shows, that is what they are good for. Bill Maher, when he talks about current events in the media, or just domestic issues in general, then I think he is hilarious. It just follows suit that all of these comedians have similar views on the war, and just to bring Bill Maher up since he is a good crowd pleaser, they spout these views like they are actual facts, and people LISTEN.
Political comments made by some people on TV nowadays are true entertainment for me though...I can't believe what some people say when a camera is in their face, hahaha.
"George Bush does not care about black people." - Kanye West
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! That is so hilarious! Kanye West, maker of the gold digger song, and countless other pointless rap songs about the same subject, actually truly feels that George Bush does not care about black people! My sides are splitting! And I could go ONNNNNNNN AND ONNNNNNN about the political media during Hurricane season...oh god was it horrible. Just the fact that people though Bush started the hurricane and made sure it hit the poor areas of New Orleans was enough to almost make me wreck my car laughing the first time I heard it.
I don't know...I watch all outlets of media for this reason. It's funny what people will say...and now the horrible part is, it's scary that other people will actually listen.

If you haven't read this link, then you should. It shows how the government plays with the numbers to make everything look good, when actually the economy sucks. And I agree with the economist giving this report. Ask anyone who does the grocery shopping if they can get as much today for $100 that they were able to get last year. The answer is NO.

It's true what you said about comedians and comments on their shows.
I read a while ago, that today's youth is getting all their news from Jon Stewart. A comedian.
Channel A&E, has a program called "MADE IN AMERICA." Imagine that, a program that tells us what's made in America, today.

One of the key comments in the article is........
"Congress agreed to let the government borrow another $781 billion". And for those that didn't already know, the borrowing is from the Federal Reserve, a privately owned bank. As with all other loans, all we EVER attempt to pay is the interest which is compounded daily.
