Devil, after the crooked scandal the UN has been in, don't you think that Americans will fight against this? What nerve, why don't we rid ourselves of the UN. They're worthless, and I don't trust them for more reasons then the scandal. They are not our friends, why would we let this happen?

The day the UN taxes me in the form of this "global tax" and the US gov’t freely allows it is the day I revive the spirit of SC and revolt against a fallen gov't. That doesn't make me any less patriotic than what I am now...but Jefferson stated it best:

You don't think the UN is a serious threat to America? I think the UN is more of a threat to the United States than Iraq ever was and more of a threat than Iran ever will be...

The UN is an abomination!!! It is a criminal organization run by theives and terrorist!

Why do you have to "make fun" of something that is so very serious. Do you like the UN? Do you understand the ramifications of this?

Im glad to see that a least a couple of you are OUTRAGED over this, and when the time comes around for Congress to vote on this "proposal" the American people will stand against this ourageous lampoon of American sovereignty.

This sort of talk is ridiculous. The UN proposes a global tax and expects Americans to follow suit? I do hope that when/if this gets to Congress they boot it quickly.

Just like everything else, if "We the People" know about it, the roof gets raised. If "We the People" are left in the dark.............

That is the difference between the people fearing the government and the government fearing the people. We should know about ALL things concerning this country.

Wadi, sadly, I fear that a lot of Americans will see it as a good thing (don't get me wrong, I am flatly opposed to any "world tax"). For the sake of pointless debate ( :icon_twis ), let me play devil's advocate:

Well, it's for the children. Why should we, the wealthiest nation in the world, let children starve?

It's for AIDS research and treatment

It's for peacekeeping efforts

It's for modernization of third-world countries

etc etc etc ad nauseum...

It is legislation that will:

3/8/2005--Introduced.
American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2005 - Repeals the United Nations Participation Act of 1945 and other specified related laws. Directs the President to terminate U.S. participation in the United Nations (UN), including any organ, specialized agency, commission, or other affiliated body. Requires closure of the U.S. Mission to the UN.

Prohibits: (1) the authorization of funds for the U.S. assessed or voluntary contribution to the UN; (2) the authorization of funds for any U.S. contribution to any UN military operation; and (3) the expenditure of funds to support the participation of U.S. Armed Forces as part of any UN military or peacekeeping operation. Bars U.S. Armed Forces from serving under UN command.

I think its about time this legislation be enacted by the people of this country, But the only way this bill will ever get through the Congress is if the citizens of this country stand up and MANDATE IT!!!!

It is very important that people participate in our legislative process. That is the only way that the USA could even remotely have a chance from breaking away from the terrorist body known as the UN!!!

Lets add up what the dirty rotten Americans already pay out in: foreign affairs, aids relief/ research, boots on the ground- a military to back up these U.N. Criminals, and not too mention disaster relief. Should I go on? Why the hell would ANY congress person vote yes on this new tax? You would really have to be a bleeding heart to want this.
Europe-peeons, that's who should pay up. If they back global taxes, then tax them. While they're at it, use their mighty military for now on too, next time a problem arises, they can put on their bright blue helmets and get to work. Stop calling thier Uncle Sam.

I say lets do it... Let the UN crumble to the dust where it belongs. Lets enact this legislation so the people of America wont ever have to worry about being taxed by the UN, EVER!!!!

Like I said before. The only way the country CAN and WILL pull out of the UN is if the people of this country mandate it. I think its about time we do that.

Bill H.R. 1146 does exactly that. It removes us from the corrupt terrorist body known as the UN.

Bill H.R. 1146 will never get support by the Congress though, unless like I said before, WE THE PEOPLE stand up and demand that it take place.
