Here's my take: Democrats, and their friends in the media, first tried to spin that the President was "illegally spying on Americans." When that argument failed in the polls, they focused in on the legality of Bush's wiretapping program. Unfortunately, a few pooh-bah's on our side of the aisle didn't like being kept out of the loop. (More on that later).

I've always heard that timing is everything. No sooner did Senate hearings begin on Capitol Hill last week when Muslims started wreaking violent havoc over a few editorial cartoons. Ummm, this is exactly who the President is trying to wiretap and get a bead on before what you saw in the streets over there, is played out on the streets over here. No need for "4th Amendment shredding" hysterics. The President is doing what he can to protect all of us. Bush has no interest in wiretapping Aunt Goldie's conversation with her sister as they swap cookie recipes.

So what are you complaining about, Senator Kennedy? Mr. Biden? Chuck? Mr. Durbin? Ms. "anti-everything-Republican" Pelosi? No matter. If you say nothing, the kook-left-moveon.org fringe (becoming ever more mainstream) of your party will swoop in and start with impeachement speculation while the rest of us tune in and see crazy and violence being sold over a few cartoons.

So, you lose. Again.

Can Democrats do anything more to prove how irrelevant they've become, and how blinded they really are by their Bush hatred?
