Blacks call whites racist names = Okay...
Whites call blacks racist names = Arrested...

I know the article doesn't state which race the person's involved were, but let's put the obvious together here...the name Jamelle Byrd sure sounds black too me and the name Jennifer Farrelly sures sounds like the white one.

But what happened to freedom of speech? Or is that only for blacks?

It's always been a double standard when it comes to whites/blacks. In my experiences, blacks usually are more racist than whites. I dont know if alltogether they are but my experiences show that some of them that I have dealt with were way worse.

when i was a yougin' i always thought rascism meant you didnt like black people... I used to idolize Charles Barkley (when he played fo rthe 76'ers), i asked my dad why he didnt like him and my dad said because hes (charles Barkely) racist...ANd i was like WOW charles barkley doesnt like black people and he is black...Pointless story but it kinda shows the way we are brought up thinking theo nly rascists are white on black....That was a true story..still dunno if he dislikes white people or black people or if my dad is just a twit

I can't stand the double standard in the racism issue. I mean if some white trash guy from a trailer park in Alabama says "ni**er" then he is the most evil, racist person on earth. But when Louis Farrakhan says, "we should kill all the white people", then he "is expressing his freedom of speech."

Anyway I addressed this topic in my Allegory/Fable "The White Rabbit and The Hate Crime", which I wrote a year ago in English. Yes it was an actual assignment that I read to several kids in class and handed in. When I finally got it back the red lettering said "I would love to talk to you about this content" All it was was my teacher asking if I got parts of it from personal experience (yes). My teacher was cool though, he wouldn't've said I was racist. I will post it here if you guys want.

Black people have so far been the most racist of all people that I have met. I have expirienced racism firsthand at school. But they are the only ones who get away with it. Maybe rappers should be arrested for singing about cop-killing, crackers and ho's.

Here is a quick story of mine from highschool that shows a double standard when it comes to race. When I was in 11th grade I went to a school for about 6 months that had a larger ratio of blacks than whites. There was a black girl in my class that had a really horrible attitude and was always getting into fights with people. She one day got into a quarrel with me about something that I can't remember now. She ended up saying something to the effect of "Thats why I don't like white people, especially him." pointing to me. So I decided to respond in kind to see how she liked racial statements. I said "I'd like to say something right now but I won't". And she edged me on to say it. So I went ahead and said "If this were 140 years ago, you'd be calling me master". And guess what? I was the only one who got in trouble for that. Nothing was ever said to the principal about what this girl had said to me first. I was not punished however because I had a witness in the class (the only other white person) who backed me up about The racist statement against me. And my father told the principal that if I was to be punished than the girl should be as well and the principal decided to drop the matter. Maybe they had thier heads on strait and realized it would be hypocritical to punish one and not the other.

I read this story a few weeks ago. I would say I'm surprised, but I'm not; is there any reason to be surprised?

We are following in the European model where "thought crimes" become criminal offenses. And it's been said here already--and NO liberal will deny or even acknowledge it--, but if the races in this situation had been reversed, this would have been a non-issue.
