Greetings,
Evidently some folks in upstate NY are irritated by the prospect of wind farms being constructed... Check it out:

I'm not sure what to make of it yet, what do you think?

suction??? i don't get that connection of a "menstrual" cycle and wind mills at all??? if i knew how to post pics here i could show ya'll some bichn alternative ideas some folks out here have come up with. the most inventive is a customer of mine who bought six navy surplus, (submarine), deep cycle batteries then converted a old car generator into to a wind mill to keep them charged. he cleans up any excess power and feeds it back into the line and gets a check from edison for 50-100 a year!! anything to syphon off funds that could otherwise go to opec i get behind.:clap1:
(i meant a 50-100 a year not a month, surprised none of you caught that!)

Greetings,
My immediate reaction is that everything has a cost; more specifically, our conveniences have a cost - such that the power has to be made somewhere. I'm all in favor of kicking the Saudi's to the curb, in addition to cleaning up the power-making process.
Maybe they could make the windmills look like giant lollipops or something, then the people would go for them.

I would have to tell the people that are fighting against the windmills that atleast if your going to make up nonesense make it sorta kinda a little plausible.
they cited Seizures, Nazis killing Jews and menstral cycles.
Of course they forgot about it hastening the coming of the anti-christ and people having explosive diahrea

some say the antichrist is already here and its...its YOU!!!
there is a huge forrest of them as you head out of la-la land, east on the i-ten toward palm springs. the next time i'm heading out that way i think i'll stick an alka seltzer in my mouth, hang half way out my car foaming at the mouth. when the chp stops i'll just say ,,, windmills,, soo...many...windmills... must...talk...like...this... because...of...windmills...Bush's....fault got a tampon? your name...is that jewish? windmilllllls...oops i just crapped my pants...

you think thats bad how about in mass. when they wanted to build some windmills 6 miles out to sea by old teddy keneddys house. you know how big of a fit he threw to kill the project; i mean he he got landowners in the area to petition, tried to have research done to show that windmills kill birds and fish (only at sea not on land of course; unsightly windmills are ok if their in your backyard, but not if the obstruct teds view of the ocean.)

Its showing people are completely dissatisfied no matter what you try to do. I like wind power, but nuclear is my favorite. Clean burning and nowadays a very small rish of meltdowns. But nope these people wont take them because the world fears anything with the word nuclear in it and people hate the site of windmills. But we can't have natural gas and coal energy, it causes global warming! Well we all might as well pack up and live in caves with no energy. Deevolution is starting with these idiots.

the billionaire can go to hell and the people suffering from quadra-periods and unexplained strokes can follow him. kudos to pataki for making great strides in both protecting the planet and lessening our addiction to foreign oil. may he throw all detractors into the spinning blades of the windmill.

haha i dont know about the menstral cycles and nazis, but ya'll really dont want windmills. after you pay millions to construct them, cut down all the trees in the area to get enough wind to power them, pay for the "lawsuits" / monkey wrenching from the animal rights activists "protecting birds," see how damn ugly they are, pay millions in maintenence, etc. you'll realize that they weren't that good of an idea. schmitty's got it right. for right now nuclear is the best option we've got. right now nuke plants put out more energy per fuel cost than just about all other forms combined. and you know the crazy part? nuke plants only operate at like a 25-30% efficiency rating. If you could bump that up to even 50% and build more plants, your power bill would pretty much cease to exist. haha until we figure out cold fusion (prob not gonna happen) or find some "other worldly" power source, nuclear is pretty much the best we've got.

Nuclear IS the best we got. Clean, only needs fuel about every 50 years or so, generates massive amounts of power, and totally safe.
Not only that but breeder reactors actually generate the fuel they need to power themselves as a byproduct of their waste. it is the most effiecnt way to generate power

but all the cars and planes and trucks etc.. run on gasoline not on electricity... We would need to take time to switch over to electric cars and its just not feasible right now plus it would take oil to do that

I've seen those windmills out in the deserts of California.
Ted Kennedy and John Kerry don't want them because they don't want to see them from their homes out in the ocean. It destroys their view.
The environmentalists don't want them because it kills birds.
I'm for them, or anything where we don't have to depend on oil from the Arabs.

MC, the environmentalists are against those too. I'm for anything that makes us independant from Arab oil. I think engines that use hydrogen are the future.

I had also heard previously that Kennedy didn't want windmills in view. Anyway, I read this today, and thought it was funny & interesting. NYT covers for the Kennedys (http://americanthinker.com/comments.php?comments_id=4549).

I agree with MC, they simply don't produce enough power to solve any problems.
I think our best bet is to follow the Sci Fi channel and recover the left over alien power supplies from Atlantis.
LOL wouldn't that be dandy :P

Wadi that mag-wind looks like a good idea for individual use. I'm curious how much one would cost, (didn't see a price on that site). I wonder if it would obstruct too much of the view for people like Kennedy so that they would not allow them to be installed in houses around them.

Goose I think it runs around $6000. A bit pricey perhaps, but this particular technology is new. Not wind power obviously, but the construction.
No one expects this to take care of whole cities, but what ever happened to individuals doing things on their own? Since when do we need the government to take care of us? Hasn't it already been proven that the broader a spectrum government tries to cover, the worse job they do?
Just consider it a long term investment.
