Well Christmas is almost upon us and I was out doing some last minute Christmas shopping. Since I thought that most of the cashiers at all the stores would say "Happy Holidays", I thought I'd give them a little comeback that my aunt and uncle both use when clerks say "Happy Holidays". It goes something like this:
Clerk: "Happy Holidays!"
Uncle: "Oh, which holiday were you referring to?"
Clerk: "Oh, uh, Christmas I guess."
Uncle: "Oh, alright then, Merry Christmas!"

So I was at JC Penny just waiting to use this comeback when the cashier says "Merry Christmas!". I was overjoyed and said back to her, "Thank you for not being all PC. Merry Christmas to you too."

We were at Krispy Kreme this morning and the General Manager was taking our order and said, "Merry Christmas!"

We were also at Walmart today. This may shock some of you, but the cashier at Walmart also said to me, "Merry Christmas."

SCORE 3 FOR MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I think part of the return to saying Merry Christmas can be attributed to Bill O'Reilly. He's really been hammering the truth out of the hyper-secularists, getting them to tell the public that they want to change what people say to fit their own beliefs. Walmart in particular was a major milestone in going back to Merry Christmas. From the beginning of the season, Walmart was very violently opposed to saying Merry Christmas. But then Bill hammered them on the fact that in stores with a large hispanic patronage, cashiers are allowed to say "Feliz Navidad", which translates DIRECTLY to Merry Christmas. Bill O'Reilly exposed Walmart's hypocracy that they can say Merry Christmas in Spanish but not in English and Walmart then announced that it was OK for employees to say Merry Christmas but they still didn't change their ads.

Horray! Glad to hear it FKLBRLS! I was in Washington Mutual bank this week and they too said "Merry Christmas!"

Seems more businesses are choosing to be on the nice list than the naughty one. (They probably know that Santa is watching).

I notice its changing to I was watching T.V. and saw a Zales Jewlery commerical and they said "Wish someone special a Merry Christmas" and the commerical after that was a Toyota Comerical and said "Merry Christmas." I was like wow two in a row.

I've had a few Wal-Mart people say "Merry Christmas" too. I thanked two of them, but the last one, the manager was standing close and I didn't want to make a big deal lest the poor girl get into trouble.

WOW! I'm totally shocked that three, THREE, people said merry Christmas a whole TWO DAYS before Christmas! This is surely a sign that mankind is being prepared for the rebirth of Jesus! PRAISE THE LORD!

Frankly, I find the whole business about the 'war on Christmas' to be total BS. A war on Christmas? What the Hell am I doing here? I gatta run and join that mortar team that was heading for Santa's Workshop! Untill there's a workshop bombing, I'm not buying it. A couple lawsuits forcing some companies to say "Happy Holidays" is just a couple stupid people who were probably either Aithiest or some other religion (or lack-thereof, in that case). Plus, it might just be easier to say "Happy Holidays" than "Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!". Doesn't ring well after a Coors comercial.
