aarrrgggghhhhhh.... i PROMISED myself i would keep my posts confined to the "economy" thread, but as you know MC, my mouth has a tough time closing itself. this is the last one, promise...

"i like anything that don't talk" is a line spoken by mafia boss "king benny" in lorenzo carcaterra's gripping novel about the TRUE meaning of friendship: "sleepers." you may have seen the barry levinson movie version with robert de niro and dustin hoffman (good flick, VERY true to the novel.) king benny is an aging mafioso struggling to hold on to what little is left of his once massive empire and the king digs feeding pigeons at a local playground in hell's kitchen (a neighborhood in west manhattan that has recently been gentrified and renamed "clinton" {vomit!} by realestate stooges.) the main character tells king, "i didn't know you liked pigeons," to which the king responds with the line above.

and yes, i AM kind of a control freak MC. not really a bad thing as long as it's used constructively.

Give me strength, you and your tree hugging animal molesting buddies are spinning around in circles trying to make this whole environment thing stick. The fact is taht this planet and it's eco system is so much more greater than man kind is, and has been around for so many more years than man has, that it's ludicrious to believe that the skinny hand of man can in any way adversely effect it.

well, since environmental regulation "techincally" falls under the umbrella of things that have a potential to affect the economy, i'll take a stab at this one on this thread...

the "skinny hand of man" can't affect the environmet? well you better call the EPA and tell them they're not longer needed (and, according to you, never were.) you better tell the prez that his brownfield initiative (to rehabilitate and repopulate formerly polluted industrial sites) is for naught because those sites were clean and dandy to begin with (hey, i just found something to give mr. W kudos for! BRAVO PRESIDENT BUSH! and i really mean that too. they just built some condos near my work on a former industrial waste site that got rehabbed. that's nice, although i wouldn't live there. ) also, feel free to eat all the seafood you like (cause there's NO such thing mercury poisoning and contamination of fish) and go ahead and take a nice long drink out of a stream adjacent to a cattle ranch (nope, NO fecal bacteria in THAT h2o!) asbestos, heavy metals, medical waste, pesticides - these are BAD substances that DO have an impact WAA. wishing them into nonexistence doesn't decrease their threat.

and i'm not trying to start a big thing here WAA. you seem like an intelligent and fairly decent person and it is not my intention to get nasty with you, but to me, saying that we don't have any impact on our surroundings is a cop-out and dodged responsibility. i know the right wing crowd like to throw the "tree-hugger" lable out there, and that's fine as it's not really an insult to me. i care about the planet - oooohhhhhhhh, how awful... EVERYTHING has an impact.

feel free to rip this post apart if you like.

I'm going to have to actually almost agree with jackhabit here, even though I think he is a little off-putting.... :icon_neut Yeah the human race is harming the planet in many ways, this is why I STRONGLY back hydrogen efficient automobiles(and motorcycles if you want jack), because they produce nothing more than pure water. But I still have alliances with WAA, RRLW, MC, Wadi, etc etc etc.

But I have one question for you Jack......

I understand you are not a democrat, but it also seems that you are not a Republican(you have distaste for all politicians), and because this site's banner is "THE AMERICAN RIGHT, because the left just isn't right," I would like to know why you are here. Why don't you go hop on a Green Peace boat and go whale watching?

And please as I said earlier, never refer to me as a junior or teenager or that I'm in high school, ever again. I have more maturity and class than you sir, ever will.

Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen,

And may God continue to bless America....

Glad to see you didn't have an argument with the essence of my rebuttal.

idiot, that wasn't a threat, and as i recall YOU were the one threatening bitchslapping. my point is that i doubt anyone would have as much balls face to face as they do in the anonymity of the internet.

Once again, a course in basic english would benefit you.

For the record, I was endorsing the concept of a collective bitchslapping/ejection of people like you to communist china. Simply because attitudes like you and yours would be most compatible there.

you thought i was call you out? please...

you're welcome to try it, but i doubt if you took a good look at me (face to face, that is) you'd be singing the same tune[

Looks like you were tripping on your testosterone there monkey boy, whether you want to walk around flexing your cyber-muscle or not, it's still hysterical.

please... you're much easier and much more fun to ignore.

Which is why you can't keep your mouth shut eh?

Then there are stories like this:

For years the environmental tree huggers have been blaming SUVs for polluting our world. Many Hollywood liberals like Babs Streisand and Norm Lear say we should all be driving little tiny cars in order to save gas and control pollution. (According to the LA Times, Norman Lear added a garage to his mansion that is "built to hold 21 cars and stands 45 feet tall".)

According to the LA Times today, "gases from ruminating dairy cows, not exhaust from cars, are the region's biggest single source of a chief smog-forming pollutant" What? You mean one of natures own creatures is polluting the environment? How can this be. More importantly, what are we going to do about it. I'm sure there is some environment group working feverishly to create catalytic converters for cows as we speak. Maybe PETA can fund some research to create mini-cows, that don't release as much gas.

The link to the thread IHL put up has links to the story etc.

The rules IHL posted, are they just for Liberals? I didn't think so. I'm certain everyone has the intellengence and the vocabulary necessary to get their point across without name calling. USE THAT INTELLEGENCE.
