I just heard the news that our BORDER PATROL UNIFORMS are made in Mexico.

Won't this present more problems with our borders?
I think this would make it even easier for the terrorists to cross our borders. What about the Mexicans?

If anything, this is an embarrassment to our country.

A bill has been proposed to build a wall along the US/Mexico border. That will solve our problems.

I highly doubt that our uniforms are made in Mexico.

Guns, I just heard it and saw it on TV. They showed the Mexicans making the uniforms for our guys patrolling our borders.

I heard about the wall, but how long will it be untill it's finished, and does that wall cover all our borders? You don't build a wall overnight. Especially. when there are miles and miles to build. Why should Mexico make our patrol uniforms in the first place?

Because we save millions because mexicans are so desperate for work they'll work for next to nothing.

I thought the Chinese labor was cheaper than the Mexican. Mainly because there are 1.2 billion of them. Labor is so cheap, that it's ridiculous.

Why are you responding to you're own thread?

Guns, why are you asking such a question? I'm really mad about this, and so far, everyone who posted something, are acting so cool about it. :icon_twis

I made a thread once, where I was responding to myself most of the time. It was like talking to myself. That's how I feel now.

:frown: I'm sorry. But we're trying to keep them out, not end trading with them. Yes, it's ironic.

If I was a border guard and I saw an Arab in a uniform walking across the border, I would shoot him on site.

And besides, it's made for the US border guard, it's not like we went to a clothing store and ordered a couple hundred of them. They're not available to the general public.

I Would'nt put that much confidence during this time of war.

It looks like we are going to have to wait for another attack to wake everybody up.

I don't know about the border patrol, but the military's uniforms have to be made in the USA. I heard about this law that Congress passed when the Army went to black berrets for regular soldiers. The pentagon initially had them made in China, but Congress said "nope"...reorder them.

I would think that all federal uniforms were the same way. Either way, the border patrold unifoms should be made in the USA. The federal gov't needs to set the example about buying US based products. But then again, NAFTA is screwing the US so badly right now.

Well, if the uniforms are being made through factories owned by American Civillian Companies, then there's your answer. Corporations often have products built in foreign countries because a workforce there is cheaper. So, I'm guessing these unforms are funded by American companies then bought by the government.

Actually hairybush I thought your comment was funny. Anyways I read an interesting statistic maybe some of you can either back me up or deny it. The statistic was that illegal immagration is actually down by about 35% since 1999. The numbers have supposedly dropped from about 1.5 million per year to around 1 million illegals crossing the border. Interesting thing to consider. I can say this for sure I do alot of driving and this causes me to stop at border patrol check points frequently. One night I asked the agent if he had noticed any major change in immagration since he had started working for the agency. He said it has been fairly consistant and that he has not noticed significant change in his jurisdiction. Sadly the media would have us believe differently.

why is anyone surprised that our uniforms MAY be manufactured in mexico? don't REAL american retailers like walmart and kmart make their insane profit margins off the virtually free sweatshop economies of china and other countries. doesn't everything from our super-patriotic yellow robbon car stickers to campaign merchandise to the very flags we hang from ourt homes bear the "made somewhere else" sticker nearly 80% of the time? i don't know why anyone is shocked or in disbelief over this. "made in the u.s.a." has become a joke thanks to the greed-meisters who championed such MASSIVE anti-human rights capaigns such as NAFTA, so don't act so shocked. and if you still are in denial, i suggest all you "good americans" take a look at the tags on the inside of the clothing you're now wearing. there might be room for just a little more shock in there...

I am not sure who you are talking to jackhabit, but no one here is "shocked" by the outsourcing of American products. This is not a new concept. Outsourcing has been occuring for years. Back in the early years of US History, the making of America's covered wagon covers and clipper ships' sails was a job outsourced to workers in Scotland, with raw material imported from India. England's textile industry became so efficient in the 1830s that eventually Indian manufacturers couldn't compete, and that work was outsourced to England. More recently, in the US in the 1970s, it was common for computer companies to export their payrolls to outside service providers for processing. This continued into the 1980s, where accounting services, payroll, billing, and word processing all became outsourced work. Anyone who has ever owned a "Dell" computer and had to call tech support knows this. What I am saying is, The Middle and Lower class (like myself) do lose jobs and earnings to outsourcing. It sucks, I hate It! Sadly there isn't much I can do about it except purchase products with labels that say "Made in America." Maybe that label doesn't mean as much as it used to but until a proper solution is proposed all we can do is try our best to support OUR economy. Yeah your right, Nafta plays a big role in this fiasco. Was it not the Clinton admisntration that pushed the Nafta deal through? Sadly, Presdent Bush was also a supporter. So now with outsourcing at an all time high and no clear culprit for liberals to point there fingers at, where do we go from here?

Well, what they could do, since Mexicans are so Nationalistic and proud of their country/race, is to fix their shit-hole excuse of a country and actually make it livable.

'cause everyone knows the entire country of mexico is just a giant cesspool of worthlessness. i mean really, what other broad prejudices can we come up with? uneducated? poor? smelly? and are they doing anything about it? if it hasnt shown up on my fox news, of course not.

I think you forgot sombrarro wearing and bean breath. Mexico is such a great country that when you go on vacation to the resort it has a big ass wall around it and they stress to you that everything you need is in the resort and the resort is not liable for what happens to you if you leave. Not only that but its such a great country its people are walking a DESERT to get out of it.

Gotta love ol' Mexico
