Cools.
On a side note, am I the only one who realizes that tracers work both ways? "Hey terrorist! Just in case you want to know who just shot your three buddies, I'm over here!"

Well, tracers, as you may know, are used to walk your rounds into targets. But when they are coming from big, loud helicopters and the like, I really don't think "out of sight out of mind" and "light and noise discipline" are in effect anymore.
I think it is pretty cool actually. Imagine a terrorist seeing this aircraft approaching with the line of "fire" eating everything up it touches. That would scare the sh-t out of me. Sorta like the Air Calvery in the movie Apocalypse Now where Lt. Colonel Kilgore (Robert Duvall) says that the music playing off the loud speakers on the helicopters lets them know their coming...

What's nuts is consider that tracers are usually packed 1-in-3 so you have 2 regular rounds and one tracer, the rate of fire on that chaingun is amazing.
Looks like they were shooting red tip tracers and APIT rounds.... nasty stuff. You can buy both online (depending on which state you live in), I got 200 rounds of the red tip in .223 for about $80.00 from ammo to go.
Have fun :)

40mm chain guns (Army issue) tracers are linked 1 in 7. They shoot about 3000 rounds per minute.
MK-15 Phalanx 20mm guns have tracers every 5 rounds (I believe). They shoot about 4500 rounds per minute.
Vulcan PIVAD system guns have tracers linked every 1 in 12. They shoot about 9000 per minute.

I think its safe to say thats a sh*t load of lead.
Yeah, the Vulcan shoots 150 rounds per second! Military firepower is so awesome.
btw....there is a weapon called a MK-19 in the military, which is an automatic grenade launcher, that can shoot through a crate of 53 linked 40mm HE grenades in 13 seconds (about 4 per second).
HE = high explosive; which has a kill radius of 5 meters (16 feet) and a serious wound radius of 10 meters.
