Most certainly. Ask any expert on politics--Machiavelli, Locke, Hitler-- and they'll tell you that taking away guns or even just requiring gun registration until they take away the guns is the main step to allowing a minority to control the majority.

I think that there should at least be a waiting period for guns, and you need a license for them, but banning them and having a list of who has them is just pointless busywork.

Having a list of who has them is an excellent idea if you plan on taking them away. Waiting periods shouldn't be too long... most people don't want waiting periods at all, but I figure that anything spontaneous can't be good; well, it can be, but no liberal could be convinced of that so it's a moot point.
