I take a cultural anthropology class saturdays. This past saturday i was "informed" that communism is a much better government. If you have a communist government we have job stability, you are hired for life. My teacher actually made this statement "In our country there is no job stability you have to be skilled to get a job, and to keep that job there is no stability in that."

It will be a long semester...sigh

I am not agreeing with communism bu toyu must remember that jsut because we have and verstrongly suppout our form of government and economy does not make it any better. it all depends on what parameters you define as being good and bad.

I think your teacher meant that, even though you get a job in a capitalist government, you can still lose it. Where as in communism, you can not lose it, unless you do something serious. Like tenyour (I dont have the slightest idea how to spell it), but automatic. Communism is great, in theory. I think that's the appeal we have to it. We like the idea of complete equality, but some of us know that it's almost certainly out of reach. At least, in a communist government.

I really don't understand you self-proclaimed "anarchists" in the slightest. Isn't anarchy in itself an oxymoron? Since anarchy is technically a type of government, it defeats itself in purpose. In short, you are a smacktard.

If you take what I have and redistribute it to the poor, wouldn't that make me poor? Would you then take my property back from the ex-poor and redistribute it back to me? I suppose every time you helped redistribute some property / wealth, you'd take a little bit for your trouble.

Yeah, that sounds great. NOT! My 1st question would be who re distributes the property? You? what If I want too? 2nd; who gets what property? Why does my property get taken away after I worked my ass off for it? And last; why cant you pull your self up out of your shit hole environment in the same manner me and others had too?
Thanks, Im looking forward to reading your answers.

Communism is like candy corn. If you are one the outside looking into it, it's nice and pretty. But once you actually taste it, it tastes like shit. Secondly, if communism is so damn great, why would ANYONE want to leave communist Cuba to go to America?

If you have a communist government we have job stability, you are hired for life.
Yes, and what difference does it make if you do your job or not. Why come to work at all, you're not going to be promoted or anything.

In our country there is no job stability you have to be skilled to get a job
I sure as heck hope so! For thousands of years your job was determined by whether or not you were good at it. How is having nonskilled people taking jobs that require skill a good thing?

Anyway Shotdrops, you said the class is on Saturdays. Is it required, as part of a degree or otherwise; or can you drop it? If you're stuck in it just try to survive, know that once you get out you will be much stronger and more resistant to communist crap talk like that.

Are the essays supposed to reflect your views?
Whenever I disagreed with a professor I made sure no bias apeared in any of my work. As a member of the media that tradition continues to this very day.

the essays are opinion based...hopefully she will just grade on my depth of knowledge as opposed to my opinons and application of that knowledge

Maybe your teacher can "inform" you of a nation that's ever used communism/socialism and prospered? Not one member of g8 is communist.

I doubt your professor will mark you down for habing opposing views. My old english teacher was a Democrat, and we had plenty of different views, but he was not an asshole about it. I always stated my opinions celarly in essays, and I have always recieved full credit.
