Anyone else here use Linux? Or even a Mac? I use Linux, have been for several years now. I just got SO sick of Windows not working, having to worry about viruses, hackers, etc. I've been a programmer/network administrator for many years, so I have had experience with Linux and Unix quite a bit in the past, and always loved them!

Anyway, am I alone here?

Good deal! Hey, if it works, it works. I used to use Windows when it worked. It stopped working at Windows 98, got worse in Windows 2000, and I got fed up shortly after Windows XP. Now I exclusively run Linux. In fact, here are a few screen shots.. The most striking features are the transparent menus and taskbars [yes that's taskbars as in plural, look at the top] and the applets... I have one that displays weather, a small command prompt, a color chooser that will take the HTML, RGB, or CMYK value of any color displayed on the screen, and the media controler, which will stop, start, play, rewind, or ffwd my music, right from the taskbar.

I'm not sure about MC's pics, but mine are hotlinked to my own web server, so none of IHL's site bandwidth is being used for my pics.

Thats 3ds Max 6. It costed $3500 (not $35, $3500) new, but now 7 is out so I'm not sure how much it would cost.

WOW! $3500 you bought it for that much man damn dude you have any idea what kind of shit I can do to my car with that much money.

Curious can you create your own game on that and what kind of graphics is it compared to like PS 2 or XBox or better?

its just amazing the price of that program I never new a program could even be a 1,000 dollers.

RRLW, just to make this clear: 3ds Max is a modeling program, it doesn't have the capability to generate .exe files. Though it would be nice, it just doesn't. Basically the graphics power is limited only by your own computer, you can build incredibly detailed models - if you have the power to support them. Thats the only real limit.

Damn thats sad for a $3500 computer program, you should get a super computer MC. sorry I dont know as much about computers as you do but im getting there I work at a computer repair place so im already learning alot about both hardware and software, just out of curisoity Master Chief is the main guy in Halo right? because I never play Halo.

For modeling i jsut use blender.
its a full modeling and animation package. its just as good as 3d max.

I've heard some good stuff about Linux. In a couple of years most businesses and schools and such places will have them. It will be awhile though because most people just switched to a Mac and probably don't want to spend a lot of money again.

I cant believe my crapy rundown school got a new Apple PowerMac G5 computer with the monitor. I mean dont get me wrong the computer is close to God but man are air conditioning in our school is mostly out why couldnt they fixed the air conditioning instead of buying the damn computer? :icon_conf
