Right now we have no steel mills in the U.S. that makes steel from raw materials.
Whoa, that's scary. So is there any capacity at all, or are all of the mills defunct? When we aren't making our own steel, we have big problems.

Do they provide their own raw material or did they buy out our mines, so they can ship our ore abroad to process it?

- NateThere are about 50 countries that have iron ore mining. I don't know that foreign countries have purchased any of our mines. We still have steel mills here, but not the total process. The last raw material to finished product steel mill in the USA was Geneva Steel in Utah. Its gone now. So while one is tempted to think we have them over a barrel with our raw materials, they can always get it elsewhere. We're over a barrel in that we can no longer take the raw material and process it into steel. What happens if we go to war against China and Russia?
