Soldiers from Massachusetts and Hawaii who work at the Guantanamo facility recently got a chance to speak with two Senators. Ted Kennedy and Daniel Akaka, both Democrats, visited with several soldiers recently. The soldiers questioned and critizied the senators on comments recently made (http://www.theamericanright.com/vbforum/showpost.php?p=15679&postcount=1) by Dick "Turbin" Durbin that compared the Guantanamo prison to Hitler, Pol Pot and the Soviet Gulags.

According to The Washington Times (http://www.washtimes.com/national/inring.htm): "The troops down there expressed their disdain for that kind of commentary, especially comparisons to the gulag."

Good. It's too bad the troops couldn't have taken Kennedy for a little trip to the wood shed (or the nearest lake) and let him know how they really feel. Also according to The Washington Times, "Both senators made no mention of the incident in press statements after the visit. Mr. Kennedy, in his statement, said that he is 'impressed with the courtesies and professionalism of the men and women in our armed forces.'" I wonder if Kennedy was impressed with the "courtesies and professionalism" of the troops when he said, "On March 19, 2004 President Bush asked 'Who would prefer that Saddam's torture chambers still be open?' Shamefully we now learn that Saddam's torture chambers reopened under new management, U.S. management." With that statement, Ted Kennedy has compared the torture chambers, rape rooms, and 300,000 mass graves of Saddam Hussein, to George Bush and the United States military. I wonder if Kennedy said anything like that when not in the confines of his precious senators chair.
