i was wondering how in the world you are able to run this site with out ads. it must be very expensive.

It is a bit expensive but I've found ads to be annoying. I've noticed there are very few sites anymore that are ad free and I would like to keep the site that way. I will probably be forced to put up an icon where those that feel like they would like to, can donate to the site.

Thanks for asking and for anyone that would care to donate, you can do so via PayPal to IHL@IHateLiberals.com.

I have no intent to profit from the site. Any money collected would be used for internet fees, server maintenance and upgrades, software licensing, etc.

Thanks.

Software licensing!? I like the FreeBSD license. The GPL aint that bad, either. Server maintenance, huh? Just tell us what hardware we can donate. I got a few extra items;
scsi dds3 DAT drive, 32 tapes
3 channel AMI MegaRAID controller w/ misc cables, terminators, 6 scsi u 160 drives (hot swap / hot spare) in 2 backplanes
shiva lanrover hardware crypto vpn redundant nics and smart switches
a wang AT model 724 keyboard (qwerty, it would go through a windshield) (if it were dvorak, I wouldn't have mentioned it)
a mysterious looking ttl terminal made by digital, has only two ports on back (rj45); for keyboard and server. (I've been trying to get it working as serial terminal for dumps and such)
an HP laserjet 4MV with jetdirect card (needs toner cartridge)
I am just a hobbyist. Sure it's probably all old, obsolete stuff, but it is all cool and kinda geek. :)

I don't use Linux. I don't like it. I'm a Windows guy and this site is run entirely on Windows. (Although one of the firewalls is Linux.) The software that runs the site needs to be licensed every year no matter what OS you use.

maybe if i search the sourceforge or asimilar place on the internet i can find a software for free that would run this site. this site looks like it runs of vbulletin.

Thanks, but I'm sticking with vbulletin for now.

My attitude towards free software is that you get what you pay for.

I do appreciate your trying to help.

I use the PHPbb (http://www.phpbb.com/) forum software. It's virtually identical to vBulletin and completely free.

vBulletin > Everything else.
