Creator of Sasser worm gets slap on the wrist

The kids who wrote the sasser worm has been essentailly let off the hook. Most people here are probably familiar with the worm that plagued the Internet a while back.

Attention hackers-to-be: please feel free to create catastrophic viruses and worms. The courts won't punish you for it.

I'm glad to hear it. I got the sasser worm about 3 times. I had to reset my hard drive. Why would someone make a virus in the first place? What good could it possibly bring him?

punishment for viruses should be related to the number of affected computers:
1 year PRISON (not jail) for each computer affected;
more than 100 computers: death penalty.

im not sure I agree I mean you dont even go to prison for stealing a car let alone a computer. I mean yea I competly disagree with the guy on what he did but I do beilive he should deserve some jail time and a life time supply of virsus on his computer.

you do go to jail for grand larceny though. all i'm saying is that there is no incentive NOT to write these damn bugs. Kids and lifeless dorks are getting their jollies by seeing if they can make the news headlines. We need to beat he living shit outta these guys until they get it straight. Prison time should be mandatory. The loss in business, private, and educational productivity from the sasser worm alone was incredible. This kid needs to be beat like a red-headed step child over and over and over and over again. We need to stop letting criminals off easy and start making them accountable for their malicious intents.
