Alot of scientists beleive we are coming out of an ice age.

Chi, there is an awful lot that article doesn't tell you. It does a fine job of scaring you needlessly. Ever been to Alaska Chi? I lived there for 20 yrs. Its not the "delicate" balance environmentalist would have you believe. Rather, its no more "delicate" than any place else on earth.

The Polar Bear will adapt just as the caribou did. Trust nature. But if you can't do that, go talk to China. Scientist have found the polution we have here is actually coming from there.

Yes Chi - we are all going to die. Better run for cover. We are all going to melt away because we are warming at such an alarming rate.

Before you start heading for the mountains to avoid the rising flood waters, take a look at a few facts.

Just a few short years ago - a millisecond in the timeline of the earth - scientist said we were cooling at the same alarming rate. We were all going to freeze to death if something wasn't done soon... like sending cash to the scientists. You know how they proposed to fix the problem? Melt the ice caps! Now, melting ice caps are going to kill us all. Here is one the liberals favorite sources, Newsweek. Read The Cooling World (http://www.ihateliberals.com/vbforum/showthread.php?t=203) and explain that one to me.

We are all going to die from air pollution too if we don't sign the Kyoto treaty right? Except nature causes more pollution (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002105397_volcano01m.html) than we can even think of creating.

We haven't even been keeping track of climate changes long enough to even have a clue of the real history. In the earths timeline, we have data for about 1 millisecond of it.

Here is a good test for you. Check out this test to show exactly how little data we have and how absurd it is for 'scientists' to think they can project anything with a mere 250 years of data. It's a perfect test for liberals - The Toilet Paper Timeline (http://www.wcsscience.com/toiletpaper/history.html)

Ok. Now off to the fallout shelter with you.

I didn't say we were going to die. I just said that we are feeling it's effects. And I only bring it up because people like you continue to not take global warming seriously. Global warming exists. We may need to learn more but what crisis/issue don't we need to learn more on? When do we stop learning and start taking action?

i say we wait for proof, instead of conjecture, then we can do something about it.

I don't have a problem with that.

Yes you do have a problem with that! You just said "global warming exists" then you say we should wait for proof. If you don't have proof, you can't say it exists.

It doesn't exist. 25 years ago, if you had been alive, you'd be agreeing with the so-called scientist that said the world was cooling. Now they say it's warming and you libs believe them now too. Next they'll tell you the earth is turning into cream cheese and you'll go out and buy bagels.

I say wait for proof too. Great. In the meantime - shut up about it!

I didn't say I didn't have proof. I said I had no problem waiting for proof. But there is proof. I posted it.

IHL, my proof is in the fact that this article says polar bears are being affected.

I can also go other places to find proof. I don't know what "proof" you all are waiting for but I just gave you proof that global warming exists.

This man altered global warming reports. Why? Because if global warming is real, than the pressure may be put on corporations to meet environmental standards. Emissions might indeed have to be reduced. This man went through and made many edits to documents so that Bush and America could pretend global warming isn't real. He did this so you all could continue to say "global warming doesn't exist".

But if global warming doesn't exist, than why was Phil editing out evidence that it does? If we aren't undergoing global climate changes like that than why?

The earth's temperature is controlled by the sun.

The sun is a ball of gas.

Gas contracts and expands.

Fluctuations caused by an expanding and contracting ball of gas can create periods of hot and periods of cold in our atmosphere.

I just hit the lottery for $22 million this morning while going to visit my supermodel girlfriend.

One of the above statements is false.

I have proof that global cooling exists. I just posted the link to it. So which is it? Are we cooling or warming.

Well ALH, based on Chi's logic, you just won the lottery!! Congratulations!!!

People would have to be pretty arrogant to believe that in the 5 billion years that the earth has survived with super-volcanoes, meteors smashing into us, and whatever else. happend that with our measly 10000 or so year history of only about 100-150 has been industrial that we can pollute the earth enugh to alter its climate. If the earth is warming or cooling its bc thats the way nature goes. Maybe the world is warming but it is not due to anything we have done

It's not just us. Don't think I was just talking us. The whole world needs to get more serious about discussing and addressing global warming. The first step to fixing a problem is admitting that it exists. And if China is contributing to global warming, whose to say we aren't? Logically, one has to guess that if China is part of the problem than so are America, Britain, France, Japan, Canada, Russia, etc. We're all rich countries who have to be part of the problem.

You know I think you might be right, I mean once are sun gets in the Stage of a Red Giant witch Will take a couple of millions of years so we might not even last that long. But if you think about it if it gets to that stage this planet will become like the planet Mercury it will be a planetary size oven. I mean could global warming cause it to snow in Louisiana this Christmas that hasn’t happen in the past 50 years, which would be global cooling right.

Chi I came here today looking for your post about the big smile on your face about what happened in England. I know how happy things like that make you.

However scanning down the list of topic I see this.

It is funny how meteorologists, the scientists, with all their computers can not be anywhere close to accurate on a five day forecast but you think they can get it correct that the earth will continue to get warm.

The first step to fixing a problem is admitting that it exists.

Hi, my name is Bob, and I have been using hair spray with CFC's and driving around lost for hours...[sobs]

Very good Bob, it takes a big man to admit it. Now that you've admitted you have a problem...

thats the perfect thing doubleU...they can only predict up to a 50/50 chance of rain three days away...but they can predict years ahead to the destruction of earth...what a joke. its making me laugh just thinking about it.

Master Chief, there was a petition with about 18,000 signers from various scientific fields (related to atmosphere) sent to Congress. These signers all agreeing that man causing Global Warming was bogus.

Walking Dude, good post, informative.

Everyone here who is saying that global warming doesn't exist is full of shit. Just look at the mountains and mountains of proof! Polar ice is melting at a phenominal rate! Hurricanes are being made at an acclerated rate! The spotted owl is declining in population! Puxitony Phil has seen his shadow every year for the past 45 years, despite the fact groundhogs don't livethat long! The world is going to flood and the great Leviathan will rise from the boiling waters of the sea and unleash death and destruction upon us all! I can't back any of that up with any hard evidence...and I'm not sure how global warming is breaking three different key principles of physics and most of the hard meterology studies from the past 100 years.....but the TV said that the planet is warming...and they can't put things on tv that aren't true! You people question the magical talking box far too much. Trust the little man inside. He'll answer all your questions; there's no need to do 'independent study' with the magical box at our side.

Oi_Ve that was the best example of sarcasm I've ever seen-ever. You should get a gold medal for sarcasm.

Back to global warming...
Walking Dude made some great points about how global warming is BS. First scientists say pollution will cause an ice age, then they said it will melt the ice caps, then they said it will cause an ice age, then they said it will strengthen hurricanes. What is actually happening with the hurricane increase is this, which I found out about on another thread: Global climate goes through 40 year cycles. Warmer than average, colder than average, warmer than average again. This happens every 40 years. 2005 is in the warmer than average phase. Plus, just look at the climate: In Sacramento, CA, in the summer of 2002, there were many days of 100+ heat, the hottest being 115. The next summer, less 100+ days, and the next slightly less the next year. Here in Temecula there were 100+ days the last 2 summers, but this year there were none. About 12 years ago it rained so much that Temecula had flooding. Then it had a long drought, and this past winter it rained a lot and even snowed. See what I'm getting at here? Weather goes in cycles, drought flood drought flood, which translates into hot cold hot cold.
