SAN MARCOS, Texas A San Marcos man has been arrested after rescuing a swimmer over the weekend from the swirling waters near a restaurant on the San Marcos River.

Police say 48-year-old Dave Newman disobeyed repeated orders by emergency personnel to leave the water. The police report doesn't mention Newman's Sunday afternoon rescue of 35-year-old Abed Duamni of Houston.

Maybe Abed was supposed to die. The police were probably told he was a terrorist. Or, this is a stretch but since I am making theories, perhaps the police were prejudiced against Abed and when he was saved, they got upset. They took out their frustration on Dave.

Yeah, that must be it. Maybe Abed had a cure for cancer and the cops didn't want no damn raghead figuring it out first.

Brilliant commentary, chi.

Chi, you truly suffer from the mental disorder of liberalism.

That is ridiculous, he rescued a man for a god sakes. He should be pardoned and rewarded.

Article mentions "he swam under a waterfall" .. as well, even more unbelievable; they were telling him to return back to their side of the river after he had reached the opposite bank. If they felt his life was in danger, they request this more out of interest in getting the arrest or his livelihood? I don't know that paricular water. Many lazy looking rivers have treacherous undertows in unpredictable areas. Simple streams become potent life-takers of so many would-be rescuers every year. But whatever their supposed "concern" of his going in the water, their demands of his re-entry simply befuddles me.
As for his charges; it's Texas, not California! Most likely they'll be dropped and he'll have a greatful friend in one Abed Duamni.

I see that chi is in typical form. Figures.

As for the story, at face value it's totally ludicrious. How ever, I'll reserve judgement until I know the cops' side of the story.

Guys, something tells me Chi was being sarcastic. We all are from time to time, and its not worthy of distain. Give the guy a break. We can jump on him for honest to goodness liberal nonsense, but our pet needs some breathing room.

Wow chi, your liberal skills are off the charts, you have taken a story that we might have all agreed on, and turned it into controversy, sheesh.
