If you haven't been there, I guess you just don't know. Many Democrats, especially liberal Democrats, consistently blame America for atrocities around the world while rushing to defend our enemies. I've never understood it and I never will but they do it time and time again. They call Bush a war criminal (http://www.eponymous.org/blog/?p=1830) and a murderer yet they go to great lengths to make sure Saddam Hussein is treated fairly and tenderly and has a steady supply of Doritos (http://www.breakingnews.ie/2005/06/21/story208077.html). They call our soldiers baby killers and compare them to tyrants like Hitler and the Soviet gulags, yet say nothing about civilians being beheaded. They said the events of 9/11 are our fault and many go so far as to imply that we deserved it.

Their latest band wagon is Guantanamo. Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton have said it should be shut down. Many liberals say we should release the prisoner there and insist the terrorists held there are mistreated. I guess if you consider three meals a day, being given prayer rugs, and being provide Qurans (at American tax payer expense) being mistreated, they may be right. Meanwhile, these same mistreated prisoners spit and throw feces at our guards (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,124747,00.html) and would kill their own mothers if it served their jihad plan, and our soldiers in the field are given MRE's (http://theepicenter.com/mre_military_meal_ready_to_eat.html). The terrorists at G'itmo are so mistreated, many of them are gaining weight while in custody (http://slate.msn.com/id/2083612/). Do you remember seeing images of our soldiers returning from prison camps? Ever see any of them coming out in better physical condition than when they entered?

Dick Durbin's comments comparing our military and prisons to Soviet gulags forced him to apologize. He didn't actually say he was sorry for condemning our troops, he said he was sorry if his words offended anyone. I guess to liberals, that's an apology. Durbin has never been to Guantanamo. Some Democrats however, have been to G'itmo (http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20050628-121155-4623r.htm). Sen. Ron Wyden, Democrat for Oregon and Sen. Ben Nelson, Democrat from Nebraska recently toured the facility. How do Sen. Nelson's impressions of G'itmo compare to Dick Durbins comments? "Everything we heard about operations there in the past, we'd have to say, was negative. What we saw firsthand was something different," Mr. Nelson said. And remember, Nelson was there - Durbin was not.

The 'blame America first' crowd will never go away. It's a liberal commandment. But it is a bit refreshing to see some Democrats rise above the rhetoric and give an honest account of what they see.

Great Post IHL, This Country was founded on Freedom and one of those is Freedom of Speech but I have seen that freedom being abused time and time again. Liberal reporters just put what ever they can find and mostly B.S. to make Liberal CBS headline news. I have never seen this country so closed minded just like Avid Liberal Hater said about ProtestWarrior “Liberals held signs saying kill bush.” And yet MOSTLY liberals are opposed to the death penalty democrats and liberals alike contradict themselves constantly. I wouldn’t care what leader is running are country Liberal or Conservative all I would demand is trust, people say they cant trust Bush he’s a war criminal no that isn’t true the true war criminal is behind bars talking to are guards about how to keep a women in line. No WMD’s in Iraq. Sadam himself was a WMD, killing thousands of his own people. ARE people that blind they can’t see the truth right in front of their eyes? Propaganda doesn’t win wars are hero’s that are fighting over there right now are what win wars. People like Michael Moore to be honest should be sentence to death for the highest capital punishment Treason. We are in Iraq for bushes plan for oil. Wow libs I have heard that one before I ask you one question if we are in it for oil then why aren’t are gas prices comedown, please any liberal that wants to respond to this respond to IHL then come to this.

I'm really getting tired of the left's commentary about so-called prisoner abuse. 'Abuse' my foot! With the Club Gitmo menu's now being made public, we can all see that the poor little terrorist murders are enjoying cuisine far better than many of those serving in our own military. Pig-Chow, in my opinion, would be enough of a balanced diet for these animals (no offense to real animals, which I like).

I wonder, does Teddy Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi and Dick Durbin put this much interest into what their housekeeping staff has for lunch? Hmm??? Are the servants taking their multi-vitamins regularly at the Kennedy compound? Should we all start throwing around ill-informed accusations of butler abuse, or is there perhaps some sexual harrassment toward the female staff at the Clinton home that we don't know about?

The point is, that this public mouthing off by the liberals about 'possible' prisoner abuse is irresponsible and possibly dangerous for our troops in harms way. Not to mention how it feeds into our enemies drive to take revenge on the country as a whole. If something needs to be investigated then fine. Liberals publically making these sort of accusations without knowing all the facts are putting all of us in danger.

If Gitmo is ever converted to a Hyatt Resort we'll probably see Ms. Pelosi down there having a foot massage while dining on the same menu calling it 'Spa Cuisine'. Lunch anyone?

Let's see here, the liberals always look at the glass as empty. The liberal media is to blame. Let's look at Ms. Couric...

Today Show" host Katie Couric apparently just can't resist giving deposed Iraqi mass murderer Saddam Hussein an occasional compliment. During an interview with Senators Joe Biden and John McCain on Monday, she said that while the Butcher of Baghdad may have been "deplorable," at least he "kept the Sunnis and the Shiites apart and from killing each other." Actually, Couric's partly right - though she failed to mention how Hussein accomplished his amazing peacekeeping miracle: by exterminating the Shiites who dared to rise up against him, including the father of the Iraqi imam who's currently leading the latest insurgency.

Here is an article (http://www.newstrib.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&ArticleID=17399&SubSectionID=207) from my local paper. This deals with a local resident who worked down at "Gitmo".

“Our standing orders were to protect human rights,” Svendsen said. “We couldn’t believe what we were hearing.”

He said the biggest obstacle facing the detainees was they were eating too well and gaining weight.
